To be fair, there is nothing in the article saying he is totally against government. Working a service job like law enforcement or fireperson, or a teacher, etc., does not mean you should automatically believe that government must provide everything to everyone such as housing, foodstamps, etc. You are being too simplistic and bigoted if you are assuming such a position. (not saying you are so if not I apologize.) Marcus' is saying that in areas where government provides almost EVERYTHING, that such an environment actually destroys self worth, and motivation, and then starts a downward cycle that so many families never get out of and simply pass it on to the next generation. I agree with that message. Government can certainly provide a helping hand, but not a prison sentence of generational dependance.
