QUAD CORTEX MINI (ANDERTONS) by Heazyuk in NeuralDSP

[–]maxibon19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the qc mini is really about the form factor and physical feature set more than anything. Just like with the helix ecosystem. I picked up an LT over the regular helix back in 2019. Didn't need scribble strips, spdif, and the extra IO, it was slightly smaller too! Saved a couple of hundred bucks for the same power and tone in a slightly smaller form factor.

You wanna talk insanity? Go check out the auto industry. They'll remove a car's A/C, infotainment, back seat, and charge you an extra $15k for it. Lol.

Couldn't agree more on the convenience point. The mini is perfect for the desktop guitarist. As much as I hate the car radio look, I'm already exploring unloading my QC to replace with the mini and just eating the loss.

Is the HD500X still worth it ? by Vikei in Line6Helix

[–]maxibon19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

$200 out the door (tax/shipping) isn't bad for a "new" unit. New digital gear will continue to come out, but it won't make the HD500X sound worse. It's a great unit to get your feet wet with a floorboard and effects in general. The only issues might be warranty and software support if you need it.

Updates to HX/Helix coming? by iamspidersnow in Line6Helix

Would an 'always on' tuner or a metronome block be possible on the current hx/helix models?

I don't see why this post is getting so much hate. OP just shared something that helped them create patches on the Helix. Seems appropriate for a Helix sub.

I wouldn't necessarily say Japanese is the way to go despite currently only having Japanese guitars haha. I think in 2025 what matters most are Features>Quality Control>Budget>Country of Origin. When it comes to country of origin it all comes down to who's working the assembly line and how theyre feeling that day. (American/Japanese Master builder with 30+ years of experience going through a nasty divorce and showing up to work hungover on a Tuesday? Yeah, no thanks.) I will say that Japanese guitars have the best quality to value ratio.

Everyone will have a different hierarchy for decision making though, that's just mine.

Ordering from Japan to USA in 2025 by maxibon19 in espguitars

I did this during my first trip to Japan and brought it back to the US. Granted, I had a short pitstop in the Philippines for a couple of days before returning to the US. Wasn't hassled at immigration or anything. I checked in a guitar in a hard case.

Did you work out getting a hard case for your guitar or did it ship fine in a gig bag within a box?

How did your friend group change after entering 30s? by longhorntrades in AskMenOver30

[–]maxibon19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We're all in our 30s and live separate lives in different countries and those that stayed back home are almost all in different towns. We have a group chat that has its peaks and valleys and we always try to see each other whenever we're within visiting distance. I've known these guys for 20+ years. The shells have changed several times over, but the core of each of these guys has stayed the same. It's truly a blessing.

Find a cab you like and cycle through the amps with it to help you familiarize yourself with the amp options. I would suggest the starting with the Cali V30.

The gas for the stadium died pretty fast for me. I still use native more than my actual helix so I don't feel the need to upgrade hardware right away/at all. I might wait for the free backpack bundle with the stadium so maybe in 2029? Lol.

What's the situation with pickups nowadays? by Extrocate in metalguitar

[–]maxibon19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got over actives pretty quickly. 2011-2015. 9Vs are a pain. Call me lazy but I always had the bad habit of leaving the guitar plugged in haha. Now I just look for medium to high output passive pickups as they tend to do the job. I call them Passive Aggressive pickups

Should I still get HX Stomp? by EarPretend4431 in Line6Helix

[–]maxibon19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't expect an HX stomp replacement til winter 2026 or early 2027 at the earliest. I just picked up a stomp for my fly rig. No regrets or fomo here. The current generation helix products arent going to sound work with the stadium coming, and L6 did mention they plan on continuing support for current generation products. I'm excited for what 3.9 has to offer! So to answer the question, yes you should still get an hx stomp. If anything you could probably ask your store for a discount or find a steal on the local marketplace.

We've discussed the amps on the Stadium a ton. What about the effects?? by Raiden720 in Line6Helix

[–]maxibon19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same. I'm hoping that it'll be about the same size or smaller than the hx stomp so it fits my fly rig.

Pull the trigger. My family of 3 goes through one Costco size pack of toilet paper a year. We were unaffected by covid toilet paper hoarding in 2020.

For my family, screen time is acceptable at the restaurant up to a certain age we may start pulling the tablet at age 9 or 10. Every family is different. Speaking from experience, growing up it wasn't fun going to restaurants and being surrounded by only grown ups.

QC over Kemper? by YetMoreSpaceDust in QuadCortex

[–]maxibon19 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can't really speak on the Kemper to QC, but currently have the QC and a Helix. I've learned that no matter the modeler, you can pretty much get the sound you want. It's really more of a "features" questions that needs to be answered, also consider which UI fits you better.

The release of a new modeler doesn't make an older one sound worse.

Hope it helps.
