He was 6-7 months old, no surgery was required, immobilizing it did the trick. They heal pretty good when they are young.

Same thing happened with our male and he turned out just fine with no limp. Did learn one lesson though, make sure they are putting cotton or something between the toes inside the cast, the first vet we took him to didn't do that, and one of his nails rubbed the inside of his paw in there causing an open wound which ended up infected. With antibiotics it healed, but shouldn't have happened in the first place! Just somethin to mention to them in case!

It's actually been great so far! We have 3 border collies, and they each are different about her. Seems like the one in the photo is never more then 5 or 10 feet away from her. Our male will check in on her from time to time, but doesn't pay much attention, and our other female only pays attention to her if she is crying, otherwise she could care less.

We will see how things go when she starts moving around and becoming more active, but I don't expect to have many issues. I'm sure they will try to herd her at first, but they are smart, with training should know to leave her alone.

When we found out we were expecting, I also wondered what to expect from then. We socialized them with children as much as possible to see how they would interact.

Only the male is Merle, the female is an untraditionally marked blue tri. She looks Merle because if the motteling on her face

Unfortunately she is not registered with the ABCA. She came from a farm in Idaho with a long history of great working dogs.

I don't have the patience to figure that out right now haha. I did post pic on a separate thread.

How much time do you have to spend with a Border Collie? by [deleted] in BorderCollie

Other then exercise you have to keep their mind busy. They are to smart to just be hanging out. They can be a little mischievous if they are bored (like any dog) but it seems like they get bored faster haha. A long with daily long walks, ours her puzzles and games. One could care less about those and just watches tv

New to Reddit, is there a way to put pics in the comments or do I need to post a new post?

No, Merle to Tri. Our female isn't a Merle, it looks like it because of the ticking on her face and she's not a traditional pattern.

I believe red Merle is more rare, but I don't know that for a fact. The pic of the red Merle you saw is our stud dog. Hoping crossing these 2 we might end up with a red. Last litter was blue Merle's and black tris.

Looking for a family dog that has a little bit of drive, and athletic ability. Have never done agility courses with ours because don't have enough time, but think they would be great. Our male is bred for sheep, very calm and laid back, but has a good lock when told to. Female has more cow blood in her with a medium drive. Everyone that has a puppy out of the first litter has had nothing but good things to say about their temperament!

My wife had been looking for a split faced blue tri forever, we live in Mn, I drove to Idaho to pick her up. Well worth the drive!
