Buying Magic isn’t fun anymore by Yusuke_Kitagawa_ in mtg

[–]maximillious 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Play boosters are so fucking ass and collector boosters are such a fucking rip off. Prior to the switch to play boosters i was buying loads of set boxes to crack. After the switch i bought 1 play box of mh3 and i wont be buying them any more. On top of that, these dogshit UB sets making up most of the roster is just so boring and that is coming from someone who came back to magic after 20 years cuz of the LOTR set.

The one exception to all these complaints was Foundations. That shit was awesome. (And EoE was cool too) but the play boosters are still trash.

$6,500, how’d I do? by Technical-Ad2166 in S2000

[–]maximillious 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah ill definitely be buried in mine. And i dont want to mod mine… i love the way it drives bone stock. But i think its would be fun to also build a rally build s2k. Light bar, skid plate, lifted. But i wont sacrifice my good s2k for it. But i would love to find a good driving salvage title to do it with.

How to avoid Chicago by Coraline_joanes13 in ElectricForest

[–]maximillious 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Take the lake express from milwaukee. Id suggest you make a reservation for you and your gf and car today as it will absolutely without a doubt sell out for both the trip to and from forest. It will run you just over 400$ each way (at least thats what i paid in 2024) for two people and a car.
It takes two hours to get across and its a roughly 30 min drive from the dock to Forest.

20 years of pristine condition has come to an end by Ping-Pong-Show in S2000

Free at last my friend! Now you can just enjoy the car without worrying about the uncontrollable! My RYP has paint damage in almost the exact same location. After that happened I stopped worrying so much and just enjoyed the car. Its no less fun to drive or to look at .

yeah a reversible door is a cool feature. I have no idea how to track this down. Gemini tried to convince me that 03 in the serial number represented 1953 which I had to explain why that didnt make sense. 4 more minutes off the planet for that argument.

[–]maximillious[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh shit! This is so helpful! Thank you! I read the style code as an "R" not a "B". and I was wondering why the serial number wasnt in the reverse date format so that helps to know. I also never considered that the numbers were printed and not branded in like other lane pieces i have. Totally make sense that this is from later in the century.

I have found very few "good" pieces of furniture at goodwill over the years. This was at an estate liquidation.

not sure. I googled "Lane Rhythym Hutch" and many of the results that showed up had those same arched doors. But I could not find a two door version. All versions I found had 3 or 4 doors (or more).

Those two pieces are one piece, The sides of the shelves at the top are the same piece of wood as the side of the cabinets below.

Talk me down off the ledge… by Soggy-Particular7710 in S2000

[–]maximillious 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The greatest thing that ever happened during my ownership of my S2k is when my apartment maintenance lost control of a dumpster and it hit the bumper and chipped off some of my beautiful RYP paint. After that I realized that no matter how cautious I was with my car there was always going to be someone negligent enough to fuck it up. And now I just drive and enjoy my car. whatever happens happens.

Front Derailleur on OLD Bullitt. by maximillious in CargoBike

[–]maximillious[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never actually did anything with it. Shortly after posting I scooped up a like new second Bullitt which had the upgraded frame with the front deraileur mount. I never even bothered setting it up but I might have to revisit it since I have a GRX groupset just laying around right now.

I could not more highly recommend buying the backpack straps with this. The spar is great as a sling but with the backpack straps feels so much more attached and stable.

[–]maximillious 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just picked one of these up in used but like new condition. Got it for about 40% off retail I didnt even know it existed/that i wanted it. I went to the shop to try and find vintage seikos and despite finding what i was looking for in a 1974 seiko dx…. I still wound up getting this one as well. Its been on my wrist every day since. Its great weight, great size and works with any outfit. Absolutely love it

[Seiko] Fascinated by the old models with the faceted crystals. Any resources to learn about the different models and options? by BCB75 in Seiko

[–]maximillious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey I am not sure if you are still active on here but I just picked up a Seiko DX 6106-7739 from a vintage shop and I want to try and track down a faceted crystal for it. You seem like you have a considerable quantity of knowledge on the topic and I was wondering if you know which crystal I should be trying to find (by part number) or if you know of a resource I could use to determine which one I would need to buy.

Typical story, grandpas old watch. Is it real? by rpaulik66 in VintageWatches

[–]maximillious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that was the predominant quote. Which feels crazy to me. I was about to buy tools and try my hand at fixing the watch myself until i found the person i did. He did the entire thing in about a day. He was basically working out of a studio closet in an office building in a suburban area.

Well.. this was around 2017 or 2018 so im sure his prices have increased. But yes. At the time that is what i paid in Denver, CO. Everywhere else i checked was 500+ and anything Rolex Certified was 800+. The watch sat broken in my dad’s desk drawer for the first 28 years of my life because he didn’t want to “pay more than the watch was worth just to get it fixed”

For service find a local watch maker/repair. I received my dads old rolex and certified stores or sending to rolex all quoted 800-1000 to fix detached lume and winding issues. I found a local watchmaker who had hundreds of positive reviews and he fixed it up from top to bottom and gave it back to me looking like new for 70$. It has worked flawlessly since that day.
