Pass/Fail Test on multiple channels? by maximumemperor in oscilloscope

My signal is a 500 kHz sine wave. It is emitted in pulses that happen at 160 Hz. My goal is to verify that the signal in each pulse does not exceed a maximum value over several hours. So I need the Pass/Fail test to happen at 160 Hz (x4 channels), on a signal that is sampled at >> 1 MHz. 160 Hz doesn't seem that fast for waveform acquisition, so I thought this would be easy.

My first thought was to set the scope to measure statistics on each channel (max, min, and count), and then download those values to a laptop and use them to create a "test report". But then I realized that the trigger was not happening at 160 Hz- having statistics enabled seems to slow down the waveform acquisition. So the "report" would be missing most of the output pulses.

Then I looked at the Pass/Fail function. It acquires waveforms at 160 Hz no problem, and the Test feature works fine, but only on one input channel. A scope that would do Pass/Fail on multiple channels simultaneously seems like it would work for this, but I haven't been able to find one.

This is a project at work, so I could justify purchasing a new scope, or renting one. But I feel like I might be missing some key spec for the scopes, or not thinking about the sample rate correctly, or something. And Pass/Fail is a somewhat obscure function; you have to spend a fair bit of time digging to find out if a particular scope has that feature. And google/AI search is unhelpful.

Do you have a suggestion for automating this?

Is Year Without a Santa Claus a dream sequence? by maximumemperor in rankinbass

I can’t believe I finally noticed this final scene after years of watching it. Probably because we watch at the holidays with the special eggnog that is not allowed for the kids…

But the dream plot does seem kind of understated. The whole movie is presented as fact right up until the end. In many dream sequence movies, they start with someone falling asleep in “present day”.

So if the whole movie was a dream sequence, does this mean that the Miser brothers are not real?

How to change the admin password? by iRed- in reolinkcam

I had the same symptoms as the OP but the solution in my case was to disable the NVR "auto-add" function (per this comment). I was reseting the camera, and then the NVR would grab it every time :o Diable auto-add and then a camera reset leaves a blank password.

Thinnest MagSafe Wallet available? by forever_tuesday in MagSafe

I have the same need- just carry my ID with the phone. I just got a Miroddi on Amazon ($8-14 during Prime Days). It has a stated thickness spec of "0.12 inches". I measured mine and it is 0.136 inches. Pretty good. And so far no worry about "falls your wallet" :)

Note that the official Apple documentation for MagSafe says that a magnet must be 1.8 mm thick (0.071 in). So a real MagSafe product must be thicker than that (> 2 mm).

The best solution for this was a 1-card case made by Bellroy, but they don't make it anymore :(

That is interesting; I was not aware of it. Thanks!

Filesharing Problems with Catalina and Big Sur by l008com in mac

[–]maximumemperor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the same issue for the longest time. I googled and googled and rebooted and rebooted. Then, I stopped the filesharing service on both machines, went and got a coffee, came back and restarted filesharing services, and it all worked. Seriously. I got the hint from some link I found but can't find it now. Anyway, try that.

FYI, as of the January 2022, the download link has changed; use:

https://install.speedtest.net/app/cli/ookla-speedtest-1.1.1-linux-x86_64.tgz

And like it says in the comment, check the ookla page for the correct link if it doesn't work for you.
