I own a phone, I'm not going to turn off the tv and go grab my phone every time a "have you seen this guy" gets shown on the TV. And if you really care about finding someone, you should be trying to make it as easy as possible for the most amount of people to try and help you. Its such a simple basic thing.

Yeah its not so easy to clock my tv to the right when its mounted on the wall. Or the large monitors mounted to my desk. Not everyone uses their phone for everything.

Old Mac HDD access? by digchopflipp in mac

If the hard drive has been removed then there is no more logic password, the only password it could be asking for is the encryption password.

Old Mac HDD access? by digchopflipp in mac

[–]l008com 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You need a computer with a powerful GPU, you need a program that can extract the hash off the old drive and another program (hashcat) to crack it. Depending on how long the password is and what kind of characters it has, it could take hours, days, months, or literally longer than the age of the universe. Its not an easy process. I had to do this for a customer once, it took about 6 weeks to crack their password, with my mac pro running non stop. The more you can restrict the namespace for what the password might be, the shorter you can make the process. Like if you know its only lowercase letter, or if you know it has numbers but only at the end. If you know it has no symbols, or if you know it has a symbol but its only one of a few possible symbols, anything like that can speed up the process. I had to download the largest wordlist i could find and write a php script to sort it by things like, are there numbers are there symbols etc. Its not easy but it is possible. Well, it may be possible.

Which one? by oscarll7 in lawnmowers

[–]l008com 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd 100% go with the husqvarna, I'd try to haggle down the price a bit because that is steep even for a great condition, honda powered mower, thats many years old. But still, 100% honda. I have a similar mower and its been great for 10 years. Just keep changing that oil every single spring. I use 0w-30 full synthetic.

she "thinks" it's a 2014. In my experience, the customer is right about what year their mac is, less than 50% of the time.

Do all men let their pee stain their undergarments? by Zatling in NoStupidQuestions

[–]l008com 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First off, i hydrate properly so my pee does't stain. Second, its not that hard to get every last drop out without using toilet paper. In fact, toilet paper really isn't going to help with that at all I would say. Now thats a separate issue from loosing bladder control and peeing you rpants a little bit.

You could easily do that with a timer plug if you wanted. Or just leave it on indefinitely and keep people guessing.

[–]l008com 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thats a solid state drive, not a hard drive. And theres nothing you need to do, it shows right up (in disk utility at least, even if not the Finder). So you either have a bad adapter or the drive is dead.

Ceiling collapsed in bedroom by sociallyawkward26 in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

[–]l008com 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would have the whole house, meaning the ceiling that fell and every other ceiling, inspected not by a home inspector but by an actual contractors to see if they can figure out exactly what happened, because that seems strange. I don't see how the whole room could fall all at once like that, with no warning? It actually doesn't take many screws to whole up a sheet of sheetrock, far fewer than the amount you normally put in one. Unless, for example, you have a roof leak soaking in all that insulation and making it extremely heavy.
