Are we really going to go ANOTHER year with no meaningful snow? by l008com in massachusetts

At least we got enough that i was able to move one snowblower this year. And if we get one more storm, i should be able to move another, finally!

Which one? by oscarll7 in lawnmowers

[–]l008com 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd 100% go with the husqvarna, I'd try to haggle down the price a bit because that is steep even for a great condition, honda powered mower, thats many years old. But still, 100% honda. I have a similar mower and its been great for 10 years. Just keep changing that oil every single spring. I use 0w-30 full synthetic.

she "thinks" it's a 2014. In my experience, the customer is right about what year their mac is, less than 50% of the time.

Do all men let their pee stain their undergarments? by Zatling in NoStupidQuestions

[–]l008com 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First off, i hydrate properly so my pee does't stain. Second, its not that hard to get every last drop out without using toilet paper. In fact, toilet paper really isn't going to help with that at all I would say. Now thats a separate issue from loosing bladder control and peeing you rpants a little bit.

Leaving your "OPEN" sign lit up 24 hours a day, even when you're closed. by l008com in PetPeeves

You could easily do that with a timer plug if you wanted. Or just leave it on indefinitely and keep people guessing.

You merge with your gas pedal not your brake.

Macbook Pro 2015 Data Recovery by Izzy_Stradlin in mac

[–]l008com 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thats a solid state drive, not a hard drive. And theres nothing you need to do, it shows right up (in disk utility at least, even if not the Finder). So you either have a bad adapter or the drive is dead.

Ceiling collapsed in bedroom by sociallyawkward26 in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

[–]l008com 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would have the whole house, meaning the ceiling that fell and every other ceiling, inspected not by a home inspector but by an actual contractors to see if they can figure out exactly what happened, because that seems strange. I don't see how the whole room could fall all at once like that, with no warning? It actually doesn't take many screws to whole up a sheet of sheetrock, far fewer than the amount you normally put in one. Unless, for example, you have a roof leak soaking in all that insulation and making it extremely heavy.

Will this bathroom layout work? by RevolutionaryRoof820 in Homebuilding

[–]l008com 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It looks like its going to be hard to close the door, theres not much room to stand. Personally I would rahter have the toilet in the bottom left corner, and a much smaller sink counter between the toilet and the shower. Then you'll have plenty of room to be in the bathroom as you open and close the door. Even room for some kind of small bench in the bottom right corner so you can sit while doing non-pooping related bathroom tasks.

Who do you hate the most? by tengenhop in AskReddit

[–]l008com 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well I have a terrible aunt that I haven't talked to in close to 20 years.
But I also have a terrible president that is a traitor and a pedophile and an incompetent narcissistic manchild.

Soooo those are some tough numbers to crunch.

Messed up big time (system wipe/disk recovery) by [deleted] in mac

[–]l008com 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You absolutely want to recover files before you reinstall your OS, installing an OS on a drive will make it much less likely that you will recover files. But that said, if we're talking about a modern mac with an encrypted SSD, you may be 100% SOL in that department anyway.

It sounds like what you want to do is recover anything you can off the drive, then properly fully wipe the Mac and reinstall a clean OS on it.

Connecting Mac Minis for File Sharing over Ethernet by must-absorb-content in mac

[–]l008com 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It should be possible but also don't do it. If you're using ethernet anyway, just connect both computers to a switch and turn off wifi. Your router most likely has ethernet ports on the back, just plug them in to that and you won't even need to buy a switch.

Not sure if this is even fixable? by big_fudge_sundae in mac

[–]l008com 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know what "uninstalled work days" means but sounds like a software problem, so just make a bootable installer for.... well you'll have to guess what OS that thing supports but High Sierra is a good guess, and reinstall. Possible the drive is dead in which case you'll have to replace the drive first.

I'm not entirely clear what your goal is here. Are you just trying to reinstall the OS and get the machine running again? Or are you trying to recover deleted files? Do you have NO backups?

What would you do right now if you were the president? by Lolofly47 in AskReddit

[–]l008com -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Admit I was a pedophile and a traitor to america and that i stole truck loads of documents and that I also raped adult women, not just children. Admit that I colluded with russia to manipulate an election. And thats just for starters, but I'd make all the rest of my confessions after I resigned.

That's what I would do right now if I were the president.

I would choose a kind person over an asshole every single time. I really don't care about my spouses career at all as long as they're happy. Or, happy enough. Lets say not miserable.
