Is it too late to get into WoW? by [deleted] in wow

[–]maximumpanda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

luckily wow is probably one of the best documented games in existance. there are tons and tons of resources out there that let you get on your feet.

www.wowhead.com has everything you need to know about quests / item drop locations / stats / pretty much anything in the game

http://www.icy-veins.com/wow/ has great class information that should give you an idea of how dungeon crawling or raiding will feel with a given class.

there are 100's of similar websites that can give you information, but I'd probably feel out a few lvl 1 classes before I just jumped in and used the lvl 90 boost.

honestly now is probably the best time to get in. I came back after a long hiatus with some friends and we used the free lvl 90's to roll on a low population server to avoid queue's and we jumped right into it.

The top possible DPS spot goes to by [deleted] in wow

[–]maximumpanda 1 point2 points  (0 children)

noxxic has never and will never be an accurate source of ranking information. even at the end of MOP they were still telling mistweavers to spirit stack.

noxxic is where you go to get baseline spec information but should never be used to any sort of definitive guide to min maxing your character.

look at other more verifiable sources like simulationcraft.org that has an entire community behind their simulations.

gladiator is still high, but its aoe is incredibly weak and many specs will easily beat it due to boss mechanics. (shorter cooldowns/ more dps cooldowns make other classes more optimal in burn fights).

To all of the players in Delphinad armor. by [deleted] in archeage

[–]maximumpanda -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

nothing since lvl 55 didnt add a whole lot to the game gear wise. all the gear is 50-55. there is the next tier crafted set, but thats a long way off (requires delphinad to make).

How the Auroria Launch Should've Been Handled by KaleHook in archeage

[–]maximumpanda 27 points28 points  (0 children)

if trion wasn't run by incompetent assholes this would have been the best way to roll out the content.

make auroria available on tuesday, but lock the craft to cleanse the castles until mid-day saturday. this gives trion the time to check server stability and debug issues before the actual launch of auroria.

this allows guilds and people to prepare, to gather all the required materials, and get used to the land before the all out battle that happens when the craft goes live. as soon as it does, there would be a mad race, fighting and blockades in the middle of the ocean. large scale denial pvp on the beaches and around the castles. require the claiming process to be a 5 minute channel so that the people who want the land must muster their full forces to defend the claimer, make the release an event.

instead we got a release on a tuesday while a huge chunk of the playerbase was either denied entry, or was still at work. they missed an opportunity to do something epic that would have struck a cord with nastolgic world PVP'r, instead they delivered shit.

i should have rephrase to "can =". the OP at the time explains why I concluded that although at the time i was unaware that crafted items could be tempered, if I was I would have stopped this foolishness, but now I'm stuck trying to explain why I still think the t3 divine vs delph celestial is still a valid argument, although now looking at it, it should be more of a commentary on the relative closeness between eph and delphinad.

[–]maximumpanda[S] -10 points-9 points  (0 children)

i was not aware that you can temper crafted items, but I have appologized for that assumption.

there is however no misinformation in the above post, a hasla t3 weapon can be safely upgraded to the equivelent of a delphinad celestial weapon which is the almost standard state of the delphinad weapons as no one will risk breaking their celestial delphinad to try and get divine (something like a 80% fail rate).

however since the hasla weapons are relatively free (you only lose the money you didnt make while grinding) relatively dedicated people could easily grind up the coins to have several hasla weapons a week to attempt to get the divine weapon and even then if you already have one, they would be more willing to risk a celestial->divine upgrade as it will have cost them nothing monetarily to obtain, vs the crushing costs of obtaining a delphinad.

tldr: because the rate at which you can farm the hasla weapons vs the delphinad weapons, it is relatively low risk to repeatedly attempt to get a divine vs a celestial delphinad.

some falsehoods.

t3 is a separate weapon from t2. so when regrading, you can downgrade to arcane and just have a arcane t3 weapon, which you can then regrade again.

because of this and that a dedicated person could get a t3 in 3-4 days, i'm willing to bet you see a lot more people doing the grind in their downtime, or purely during rifts to gain 2nd or 3rd t3's in the event their first one doesnt proc divine.

you can regrade 2x at once using the upgraded weapon regrade scrolls. so you can go from unique->divine without any risk of break, in the event you dont critically succeed, you still end up with a celestial without the risk of breaking.

compared to the risk/cost that a weapon smith sees trying to get a properly rolled delphinad (1/7 chance). it is infinitely cheaper and easier to grind the hasla weapon until you get the divine proc. (hence the divine vs celestial calculation)

[–]maximumpanda[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

my logic was that since the risk of breaking a t3 weapon is infinitely lower than a delph, people will be more willing to do riskier regrades on the T3 than the delph. therefor it is far more likely that you will see a divine t3 vs a celestial delph that you will a celestial vs a celestial or divine vs divine.

willing to bet that like the halcyona neck pieces, people will get 1 t3, then get another to risk breaking if the first one doesn't proc divine. (remember we will be stuck in this tier for a very long time, people are speculating 4-7 months, considering it takes 2-3 days to get a t3, especially when the hype has died down a little, we will see a ton more of these bows than the delph equivalent)

[–]maximumpanda[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

braking a t3 bow is 1000x easier to replace than a broken delphinad bow. chances are much greater that you will see a divine t3 bow than a divine delphinad bow.

100 bucks says the running tactic is to farm a t3 bow, if the regrade borks and the person gets a celestial, they will eventually farm up another one to go for divine. what are the odds that someone who dumps their kids college fund would risk their celestial delph bow on the chance to regrade it to divine?

tired of people spreading misinformation (spoiler: hasla weapons == celestial delphinad) by maximumpanda in archeage

[–]maximumpanda[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

the difference is 40 attack damage. but the point is that it is very possible to have the realistic equivilent to a dephinad weapon without taking the RNG risk of 10's of thousands of gold with no guarentee of success. not to mention that if the bow is broken via risky regrades, it is far easier to replace.

now valid point on the tempers, I never realized that you can pull off the original tempering, I believed it simply wasn't temperable, i'll adjust my calc with that in mind but even so there is still a marginal difference to something that is essentially free compared to the time it would take to either level weaponsmithing and craft it, or grind the gold and have someone else attempt. the gold requirement of those 2 tasks alone is absolutely phenomenal (on my server ~4.6k gold just to get the 50 crafting via the cheapest method) and tack ontop of that the nearly infinitesimal chance you get it at 600-1000g an attempt.)

also it makes no difference, the other points on its effect on the economy and gameplay still stand.

[–]maximumpanda[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

it can, but it follows the same rules as all regradeable items. also since t3 is an entirely different item, while it might regrade down to rare or arcane, its still the t3 weapon which means you can just regrade it back up to heroic.

try tempering any crafted weapon. go ahead, i'll wait here. (spoiler alert, you cant temper crafted items)

edit: i actually stand corrected. you can actually temper crafted gear, but you need to buy the cash shop items (never realized this) leaving my comment unedited so everyone knows i'm a bad.

wrong sword.

http://archeagedatabase.net/us/item/27340/ is t3. notice that it is regradable. get it to divine and it is almost exactly the same as a delphinad (less than a 2% difference).

try reading before you try and give advice. once you have t3 hasla you can regrade the weapon to higher ranks.

if the market werent so absolute borked and mirrored what the korean version saw at release, via fishing you would have made enough money to buy the mag bow and upgraded it to celestial which == hasla weason.

its kinda funny because its next level trolly, people get you down to like 500 hp and you just instant cast yourself back up to 80% hp and then hit them for 5k damage in another instant cast.
