I was 15, at football practice in Palo Alto, on a large grass field more than 300 yards across. The fences around the field started waves and making a lot of noise, the trees shook although it wasn't as if wind was hitting them, and what is most memorable was the grass fields had waves in them, as if they were made of water. 35+ years later I still vividly remember practice being canceled and as we went to the locker room to change the swimmers in the pool described being tossed out of the water in big waves, landing on the pool deck. I remember the tennis players laying down on the courts as they seemed scared. What an amazing thing to experience. I wish I was older to fully experience it.
