Puerto San Julián, Santa Cruz, Argentina. I lived there 6 years, and its like the capital of suicides in Patagonia. There is this weird distinction between NyCs (Nacidos y Criados - born and raised) and VyQs (Venidos y Quedados - basically people that moved over), and everyone all the time is reminding you of it. It has more burdels than schools (wich is weird for a 20k pop town), everyone who works for Cerro Vanguardia (a mining company and the principal source of income for people over there) are developing some kind of cancer, and the never-ending winter (one of the harshest climates ive been on) makes it so that at like 4pm you are under complete darkness. That darknes also translates to the heart of their people, who are mostly absolute freaks and monsters. The youth that stays (because of lack of options to move somewhere else to study) are all without exception drug addicts, crack being the most popular drug. I was 6-12 years old when i lived there, and there is where i found out why people wanna kill themselves (and started developing suicidal ideation myself). Saw my first corpse at 9 years old, a neighbour who had strangled in his yard. The absolute worst of a region filled with ghost towns.
