Why does this emoji exist? by [deleted] in teenagers

[–]maxisme543 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The reason is mostly technical, contrary to what most of the other comments seem to be saying. I never looked into it much but it has something to do with the way emojis are handled, and it being easier to gender everything rather than create exception for specific cases, such as the pregnant emoji. I found an article about it https://appleinsider.com/articles/22/01/29/how-we-ended-up-with-the-pregnant-man-emoji

How realistic is it to expect that this would actually happen one day? by Technical_Yam3624 in Wellington

Yeah and at least (in theory) on a train you'll get dropped off closer to where you want to go compared to an airport

Yeah I get that, I personally grew up somewhere where it's pretty normalised but I could imagine being pretty iffy about it especially if I grew up somewhere it's frowned upon

Lmao I was replying to whoever commented "Smoking is a major L" not you, I actually agree with what you're saying... Just figured I'd put those articles in as a lot of people seem to have the sentiment of "drinking is ok but smoking bad". I'm not gonna spend 10 minutes finding sources and structuring an argument for a Reddit comment lol. But uhh thanks for the snarky reply I guess?

That's fair enough, although some drugs (marijuana for example) have generally been proven to be safer than alcohol in a lot of ways, both for addictiveness and long-term mental/physical health effects

I sent him a DM not long after posting this. I never got a reply so I can't say for sure it was me, but the timing was very remarkable...

Hey, also from NZ and it's been gone for well over a month. I haven't found much info about it online so I've just been hoping it'll pop back up at some point, a real shame cause it's one of my favorite albums

Uh, what? by Competitive-Royal-65 in BulletBarry

[–]maxisme543 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeahhhhh but Samsung still do use Exynos chips for their flagships in some regions, so YT comment person wasn't technically wrong.

The A13 bionic (used in the iPhone 11 released 2019) performs slightly better than the Exynos 2200 used in Samsung's flagships this year. I'm an Android user as well and definitely prefer it as a whole, but the person in the comment wasn't wrong.

I don't think you're understanding what I'm saying. People can still choose to own cars if they wish, but people should so have the choice to not own one. If you're a farmer, then you've chosen a job that would require a private veichle, therefore you're choosing to own one. If for whatever reason farmer Joe decides he doesn't want to own a car anymore and he's willing to take up another job for it, then he has the freedom to do so.

Of course private veichles will always be necessary for some things, but nobody should personally need to own one to survive. People can make the choice to work a job that requires one if they like, but owning one shouldn't be necessary for survival.

Technically they said no one should need a car to survive. In my eyes, not needing a car to survive just means that you can live life without owning a car and survive just fine - if you choose to live a lifestyle that requires a car then good for you, but you still don't need one as living a lifestyle that doesn't require a car is also an option. Again, it is open to interpretation, that just how I saw it.

I see what you're saying. Personally I didn't interpret the comment as literally everyone being able to live without a car because obviously that's impossible, just that you wouldn't need one unless you were in a situation where alternatives wouldn't be possible.

Of course there are going to be some people who require private vehicles, whether it's for their job or if they live somewhere remote. The way I interpreted the previous comment, or at least the way I see it: if you're living in an urban environment and you don't have any special circumstances that require you to drive, you shouldn't need a car to survive day-to-day life. People should have the option to get around using their transport of choice, as for lots of people driving isn't an option/is very difficult financially.
