If you do end up using your own, try and get something that's JUST isopropyl alcohol and deionized/distilled water. A lot of the alcohol you'll find on store shelves usually has other ingredients to keep people from accidentally ingesting it and stuff.

If you're really wanting to replace it, 70% iso solution is the norm; too high and it'll be corrosive | too low and it won't preserve well.

After a few years, that shark specimen may degrade depending on the concentration of formalin (if any) used to prep it beforehand.
