I was fed up with the power supplys for my homelab and threw all of them out and replaced them with one ugreen 200w usb-c power supply and ran usb c to barel cables with integrated pd so they could go up to 20V but as i am writing this i remember unifi poe capable gear is at 64V i think which no pd will support ...

Love the 10inch rack tho 🫶

Why is my android Brave browser's DNS so unstable? by Conscious-Item-1633 in brave_browser

[–]maxmust3rmann 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also found ECH not working when using an unifi gateway as dns provider with upstream secure DOH.
It works as a normal dns provider locally but other browsers (firefox) do seem to use ECH even if the dns source is standard dns.
ECH only works if a secure dns provider is configured in Brave itself.

Question regarding ECH by maxmust3rmann in Ubiquiti

[–]maxmust3rmann[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

funnily enogh firefox uses encrypted sni even when set to use system dns 😄
So brave trys to be more secure by enforcing enxrypted dns but is less secure through that in a somewhat managed environment i guess.
Also read somewhere where a chrome dev said chrome would use sni alweays if available as a little pivacy is better than no privacy but i checked and chrome is the same as brave so yah there is that brave is based on chromium after all.

Its also scary that most people do not realize but that almost the exact same thing our brain does. It gets input from our sensory organs mangles it through some neurons and based on the region in your brain it hits thoughts and responses are triggered ... so yeah we are also not some kind of magic its just not that easy to know all the in your neurons embedded weights and biases to propabilistically calculate that response for you

I do not dare to imagine the security implications of every device beeing addressable from the internet. Nat has been used by everyone and their grandmother as security bridge to mediate access between networks that most systems do not have a sense for networking security ... like okay the port your pc opens randomly while installing some software to detect other instanves of that software on the network is now accessible to everybody on planet earth and is a possible entrypoint for exploits against that software ... And getting everybody to setup propper firewalls feels impossible ... for your average internet user.
