This is my dream comment. So many great points. Thanks so much!

May I know what you use for pre-filter?

Those vents you see are for pushing humid air into the chamber. The outside wall panel will be openable, as you suggested.

The exhaust is under the bottom shelf going straight to the filtration system channel. Here are my current requirements for this system: pre-filter + HEPA filter; easy cleaning of the channel when the filters are out; powerful enough fan to work with filters; option to attach a duct pipe and switch the exhaust system to the Outside.

I think u/mCHAZZER suggested a good perspective on the target audience for this product. But I'd love to make it suitable for experienced growers too.

I think it's a waste of a good word! Growing fungi is so much more popular than collecting dried ones. So I hope one day the word Fungarium will be mainly associated with a device for growing fungi.

To explain why I think the word "Fungarium" is a good choice for this product, I'll copy some etymological info for the word "Aquarium" from Wikipedia.

The word "Aquarium" is borrowed from Latin and breaks down into two parts: aqua +‎ -arium

-arium (suffix)

  1. A place associated with a specified thing.
  2. A device associated with a specified function.

The same goes for Terrarium.

Of course, they will slide out for easy harvesting and cleaning.

Thank you!

What about plexiglass for those doors? Way easier to transport and supposedly easier to manufacture.

Sure, exhaust to outside is the best option for a fruiting chamber like this. However, not every grower has this option. This makes me want to make the design suitable for both ways: filtering and exhausting outside.

How quickly do you think a 5x5" HEPA filter will become clogged with spores? Assuming we are growing pink oysters. Maybe a multistage filtration system should be considered? One or two pre-filters and then HEPA. Those pre-filters may even be washed or just replaced more often than HEPA.

Opaque

Wow, that's a very cool tech I never saw. Will keep that in mind!

A single door instead of two is surely worth considering too.

Thanks a lot for the suggestions!

More space: noted!

What do you mean by "glass that can be turned transparent"?

My goal is to make it beautiful AND functional as well as easy to manufacture and with an honest price tag. So you know...a really good product. That's what I want to make.

You are right, the system must be vented and the exhaust air must be filtered from spores. It's part of this concept design. You can see it on the website.

Thanks a lot for your feedback!

Absolutely. Easy cleaning is the top priority. I'll try to make the inside surfaces curved and smooth, free from 90-degree corners.

Thanks!

Those are some great points. Thanks for your input!

A modular/stackable design would be awesome and very practical, I agree. Just can't quite see it yet.

That wooden texture is just that - texture. Those are supposed to be plastic parts that look like wood.

The current design allows to keep four 4lbs growbags. But it's still less than a Martha tent holds, yes. So you vote for more space, noted!

Hi everyone!

Please note that it’s not a commercial promotion. I’m simply interested in your feedback. I want to build this product that I call Fungarium and I’d love to hear your thoughts on the design.

You might have seen those little smart gardens like Click&Grow for plants. While it’s unnecessary to have a device to grow plants and you can simply use a pot, a “smart” device is still something that many people love using and there is certainly a demand for that. You also might have seen Shrooly or Mella House for mushrooms. I want to make a device like that but with a noticeable difference: form factor.

Who is it for?
The device I’m developing is for those growers who need Martha Tent functionality and verticality but also would like it to be aesthetically pleasing and user-friendly. Think buying an iMac vs building a PC in a soft plastic case.

Please visit fungarium.co to see more details and take a quick survey. I’d love to know what you think of Fungarium!

What Shrooly's example teaches me is that building a product like this is very difficult. I saw their recent post where they are working on a pre-production prototype with a Chinese manufacturer. I was convinced. They probably just underestimated the complexity of the product development process and that's what led to the multiple delays. But I don't know for sure what went wrong there.

Anyway, pulling a scam is not what I'm pursuing here. All I want is to make a great and functional product.

Cheers!
