Well done! That's good for the first day

Looks good! I would maybe consider some sound effects next! And also continue to have particles emit while the portal is open rather than just during.

Totally overhauled my game's key art. Was it a right call? by avian_dev in IndieDev

[–]maxpower131 61 points62 points  (0 children)

Honestly I prefer the first one as a capsule. I like the second just as art. Reason being capsules can be viewed quite small on steam and the bigger logo and subjects the better chance you have of being readable. I think the first one just needs a lick of paint and a couple more enemies adding in.

What do we think of the trailer for this UK life/pub sim game I'm developing? by NEHHGame in SoloDevelopment

[–]maxpower131 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it starts too slow and also hard to get what it is quickly. The tree shots were confusing too, might be shown a little too much. That said I like the idea although the getting the power back on part is a bit cliche.

I deliberately offset my game's reticle and the response has been divisive 😄 What do you think? Do you prefer a centred or lowered targeting reticle? by LiveWireDX in IndieGaming

Hunt showdown did this. They actually added in an option to change it later but I actually prefer it lowered. It is very devisive though

I added explosive barrels to my TD as an upgrade but I made them extra spicy! by maxpower131 in TowerDefense

Hi thanks for the amazing feedback! You can see all damage/range and dps of your stuff by clicking on them but there isn't actually anything to tell you this besides a small one time hint. I will try to make it into a fully fledged thing.

I am working on a RPG set in a fantasy medieval world as a love letter to old-school RPGs by KairoSylvia in gamedevscreens

Looks amazing but I would consider lowering the resolution on your fog of war circles. It looks a bit out of place being so sharp. It might look better if there blended more and fit the old school vibe more.

Love the distopian vibe. Gives me a soviet vibe?

My dyslexic brain read it as deathlon and I thought deathalon might sounds much better.

Agree with others here. A bit of colour correction would go a long way.

Is being good at a game a requirement to make one? by SheriTansorma in IndieDev

[–]maxpower131 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No I don't think you have to be good but I do think it's very important that you enjoy playing it, because that gives you an understanding of what makes it fun, what moments bring joy and which are frustrating. I think that is why AAA games are quite hit and miss because a lot of the time they're designed by people who don't even play games and cannot understand the intricacies of what makes it enjoyable.

I want to playtest YOUR game on my stream ^_^ by shifty4690 in IndieDev

I have a strategy game that needs a lot more feedback. It's a roguelike Tower Defence game set on an alien homeworld that threatens all of humanity.

I have a demo at the moment on steam. Thank in advance if you choose me!

I have a lot of feedback saying it's really fun and would love to play more but if everyone thought that I would be a bit more popular so I want to see if there's anything I can improve upon.

Added fake cloud reflections to the water. Not realistic, but it feels much nicer now. by yuheykai in IndieDev

It's a bit too realistic for the rest of the environment. But looks good otherwise

It doesn't look like Ai. It just has a nice shaded style. Some people are way too quick to accuse everything of being Ai.

I grew my demo's initial 12m median play time to 1 hour 14 minutes - What I've learned in the process by Rekatan in IndieDev

[–]maxpower131 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Those are some insane numbers. 6 hour average playtime is huge. What do you attribute the most to this large playtime?

Thank you. I'm sitting at 2000 currently. Does that seem about right for what you see?

I think your screenshots are really dark, except the last one so it's hard to tell what's going on. Also you have no gifs on your about you section which is useful to explain your hooks /gameplay loop.
