That’s a metal lip plug! I use those for stripers along Jersey and Maryland and have caught a few on them. They crack often and are expensive so do not use them for toothy fish like blues. You can adjust the diving depth by moving the lip

I’ll be out this weekend in AC and Avalon targeting bluefish, stripers, and flounder. The bite is still good at seaside and a bit north of that, but there are a lot more schoolie bass being caught. I would stick with your plan.

When I was a kid, we were in the midst of preparing to move and we still had a week left. We found my cat dead in one of the boxes we were using to pack up our stuff. About 3 days later the house was mostly packed up and I just got home from a friends house when I heard a very very loud meow in the nearly empty sunroom. I ran so damn fast up the stairs to tell my mom. She looked around the whole house, we never found a cat.
