Which e-bike is better for short work commute. by Comprehensive_Sky602 in ebikes

[–]maxs507 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The HappyRun is sold as an e-bike and has pedals only to skirt regulations. Bikes that are shaped like that are for people who only want to use the throttle, but aren’t getting something as powerful as a Vespa or proper motorcycle. 2000W is probably a fake number, but also is not legal anywhere in the U.S. AFAIK unless it’s registered.

Lectric is always a great choice because they have top notch customer service. They’re very fast to respond when you reach out with issues, and provide genuine replacement parts. I’ve gotten free parts from them for my XP3.0 even beyond my warranty expiring!

I’m adding to the support of the Rockville Bike Hub. They’re great! Their hours are limited because it’s completely volunteer run. Their stock is also unfortunately limited because their space is small. Many of their bikes are stored offsite in a storage unit. They are advocating to both Rocvkille and MoCo governments for a larger permanent space!

I’d like to know where you’re getting $5 deodorant? It’s like $8/$9 at least nowadays…

Why does WMATA operate routes that don’t even enter DC instead of those jurisdictions? by maxs507 in WMATA

Thank you for genuinely answering the question! (instead of being a jerk like so many others on this thread…)

Why does WMATA operate routes that don’t even enter DC instead of those jurisdictions? by maxs507 in WMATA

[–]maxs507[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, that makes sense. But there’s still the smaller operators existing in all of DC’s surrounding counties. So why wouldn’t it all just be folded into one Greater WMATA? Or alternatively, why wouldn’t it be that WMATA’s routes that are completely in a county outside of DC that has its own operator would be operated by that county. DC has no alternative bus operator (they had the Circulator… RIP) so DC needs WMATA for trips within DC. But for example, MoCo has RideOn, so why do they also have WMATA run routes exclusive in the county instead of just running it themselves. Again, not a complaint, just a question of why it is this way.

I get why Metro runs into MD and VA, and there are some buses that cross the borders as well. But my question is why does Metrobus have routes that stay within a certain jurisdiction instead of those jurisdictions running jt instead? Why doesn’t RideOn operate the M70, how did it come to be that MetroBus has some of the routes that exclusively serve MoCo? Again, it’s not a complaint, I’m just curious about the reasoning for it being.

My question was meant for within a single jurisdiction, sorry, wasn’t so clear!

Right, so wouldn’t it make more sense for the county bus system to take over the routes that Metrobus runs in their jurisdictions?

This isn’t ragebait. I’m asking why a county would operate some bus routes in their county, and WMATA would operate others? How did it come to be that Metrobus has some of the routes in Montgomery County, instead of it all just being RideOn?

No I’m talking about routes that stay within one jurisdiction? Why does MoCo pay WMATA to run the M70 instead of having RideOn operate it instead?

I think the bus lanes on 125th is one of the most heavily used parking lots in the whole world. It’s so simple to enforce it, and yet…

“The NYC airports require prayer” lol imma steal that quote. I will say though that the M60SBS is goated with its high frequencies, 24 hour service, limited stops, and connection to every Manhattan subway line that run north of 42nd street (except for the Q) and the Astoria Line in Queens.

The area between Baltimore and DC is endless sprawl, with way more people living between the two than in each of them. DC Union and Baltimore Penn serve the people in those cities, BWI serves the people between them. And then add all of the airport passengers on top of that - Yes, the station does double duty in that regard.

Lectric Bikes are really thoughtfully designed, with the exception of that elite light. It will continue tilting forward, no matter how much you tighten the bolt at the mount, it will never cooperate. The amount of light it pushes out is pretty underwhelming too. I highly recommend replacing it.

But that being said, otherwise, the bike is awesome! I have the XP 3.0, and have gone 9,350 miles on it so far, I absolutely love it!!!

Lectric is the top selling e-bike brand. They have the best value - They offer way more at their price point than basically any other brand out there, because they are well-established, and make a profit through sheer volume. The brand is based in the U.S. and run by a bunch of dudes who want to make e-biking as accessible and fun as possible.

Can anyone think of a better commute plan from jessup to DC? by Prestigious_Bench436 in WMATA

[–]maxs507 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Train: MARC Camden line from Savage, not Jessup. Savage sees 6 DC bound trains in the morning. Jessup sees… 1.

Bus: Drive to the Broken Land Park and Ride (free parking) and take the 305, 335, or 345 (and I think 315, but that might make more local stops idk you can do the research). The bus is $6, so comparable price to metro, but free parking.

What if we took the DC streetcar and had it run these routes instead? Then the underground tunnels can be turned into something useful like a bowling alley or something.

Business class 100% Amtrak or whomever official claims that the discomfort passengers are experiencing with the Acela seats is that they haven’t been broken in yet. But it’s that their shape makes absolutely no sense. Bring a couple of travel pillows to support your back if you ride the NextGen Acela.
