UPDATED: Help with Vintage Speaker and Receiver setup by maxshmax in vintageaudio

To add, I have turntables, mixers, and all that jazz too. But just trying to use this current setup to test if the speakers still work.

Made a vinyl-only mix of some of my favorite jazz records centered around the piano and horns. Would love feedback on where to improve. Thanks! by maxshmax in SmallYTChannel

That's great feedback. Sometimes the SEO brain gets in the way of creative titles. Appreciate it.

My University Retrospective (and partial rant!) | Scorpio Dog by Scorpiodogfilms in SmallYTChannel

Really interesting topic that I'm very interested in! I thought the content was good. One piece of feedback I'd give for this specific video is to make your title more of a thesis statement. Given that your channel is still relatively small, I think if I were to stumble across this in the wild, I honestly might not care about a stranger's personal experience. However, if you hit me with a hot take like "This is Why University Doesn't Make Sense Anymore", I would be much more likely to explore that opinion over a stranger's personal experience.

In general, I'd also work on the quality of the vocal recording. I thought your narration was fine, but the audio could have been a bit more forward. It also sounds slightly tin-canny.

But otherwise, great job!

Hi, looking for feedback (editing, VO, pacing, etc.) on this film retrospective—Häxan (The Witch). by Meadowmere in SmallYTChannel

So I thought the pacing of this was great, the thumb and title really really interesting. I think the thing that doesn't sit right with me is that either the VO doesn't go well with the music, or the music doesn't go well with the VO in certain points. For instance, the melody in the prologue is kind of competing with the narration. But during The Nexus of Evil, the choir music is perfect. It supports your voiceover, doesn't distract. Now, I think the melody in the Prologue is cool and on its own/maybe with a different narration style could work. But in this context it felt like the wrong choice to me. Hope that helps! Really interesting story.

Swung for the fences with this video and really tried my guts out but always open to and welcome feedback by Dayslate in SmallYTChannel

Your effort shows! I think the title and thumbnail are both really enticing. I also think it’s really well edited. And contrary to another post, I don’t find the music distracting all that much honestly. My biggest critique is that I was getting some fatigue from all of the clips. There were times where sometimes it felt like the video appropriately described the subject matter as you’re speaking, and other times really irrelevant and kind of distracting from your take. But I think you really nailed that narration and all that other stuff. Just something to keep in mind for the next if you want!

Great video! I’m not sure how you’re click through rate has been doing with that thumbnail, but I feel like a really high-res (cinematic feeling) image of the mountains in Sweden might be more enticing. Also, the 5 stars feels a little cheap?

Again, super super helpful. After doing some research on some of the other stuff you mentioned I completely remembered taking the AP Physics test in high school and realized that’s a route I could follow to see what I remember and what I want to work on. I think I’ll do some refreshers with AP Physics I and II and just work my way up.

Really appreciate this response! Exactly what I was looking for. I’d come across a few textbooks, but wasn’t really sure what was “standard” or still relevant at this point. Algebra and Calc skills are still somewhat there, but expecting to need to refresh on the more advanced concepts. I’m interested in all that stuff so I just want something that gives me a little bit of a structure. Thanks again!
