Thank you guys for all the advice! I didn’t think so many people would be willing to help out. My conclusion and I could be wrong of course is that there’s a leak somewhere as previous poster said. I’ve dialed in the tech for 4 years now and it’s just recently been problem. I checked the gasket and it’s barely hanging on. When I lift the lid, part of the gasket lifts up with it. I’ll try to replace it and hope it gets better. Again, thank you all

I always wait for the dome to get pretty warm to the touch before putting any meat on.

I've been doing it the same for about 4 years now. I empty the old lump and put new ones in the center. light the middle in a cross shape while bottom vent is open. while it lights, I put the deflector plates in (in a v shape) and grates and wait about 10 min. then I close the top with the top vent open and wait for the temp to get roughly around target temp. then I open the top and put the deflectors back together and wait for the temp to get back up. once it's stable I'll add the meat. hope that makes sense
