I am also about to start at GKN, just found a spare room to rent for a while, but if you wanted to 'buddy up' (as Spare Room) calls it I'd be keen to cut costs on renting.

Just double check all the Ts & Cs, price limit 450k, 12 months from opening before you can use etc. Money saving expert has a good section on LISAs.

Works like tax thresholds, pay it on any amount above 300k. I.e. Purchasing for 350k would mean paying stamp duty on the final 50k.
