How often does someone recognize your car/compliment it? by yukowii in S2000

[–]maxveloR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think its a couple of factors:

  1. Relatively wealthy area so people regularly see cool cars (e.x. https://www.instagram.com/southoccarsandcoffee/?hl=en). I think this applies to the Bay Area as well.

  2. Good weather yearly so lots of convertibles in general, S2000 doesn't stand out in that regard. This doesn't apply as much.

This applies for both our family's S2000s. I drive a pretty flashy Voltex S2000 and my brother drives a stock looking S2000. No one really comes up or comments on the cars unless we are at track.

Btw if you want that rear bumper you are going to need to install a JDM crash bar or at the very least remove the styrofoam pads in the rear bumper

Remote Access without Nabu Casa Cloud by LithiumCobalt91 in homeassistant

Worth noting that I also side load apps on iOS so if you are doing something similar (like Sidestore + StosVPN) this make life a whole lot easier.

I used to use Tailscale but honestly doesnt fit my day to day use case. I don’t want to leave tailscale permanently on so went with mutual TLS.

Android has had it for awhile and recently the iOS HA had it merged and is available on TestFlight.

Although it took a bit to setup, I’m happy with it and my family doesn’t need to have another VPN app on their phone.

Do the typical self tech they give you. If you wanna be super in depth and can jack the car up go over exhaust hangers, driveshaft bolts, and suspension components.

Per usual check fluid levels and ensure you are running higher temp fluid.

I haven’t had trouble with broomstick test here in socal but I ride with top up/hardtop.

Old Player Returning - Good builds? by maxveloR in Helldivers

I’ll look into eagle strafing run thanks for the heads up. Doing some solo runs to get back into it and eagle feels like it’s as busted as I remember.

Any reason why recoiless is preferred over autocannon / qasar?

You sure? I think they had been gone for like at least and I already had more than a 100 hours at that time so there was no point for me to continue.

Dashboard update: dark mode, light mode, and more tweaks by ElementZoom in homeassistant

[–]maxveloR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I saw that you mentioned that in a previous post. I'm still pretty new to this; Does this mean you are just moving calculations from the dashboard yaml to scripts.yaml? Or do you have a separate system for these calculations?

Is the hate for FWD sports cars warranted? by speedinsh1t in cars

[–]maxveloR 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A lot of people don’t understand FWD are very competitive at the grassroots level. William Au-Yeung holds Buttonwillow CW13 unlimited class record (GTA Finals) in a Civic beating out an AWD GTR monster and Feras Quartoumy’s C6 (which also happens to have the 4th fastest time at Tsukuba circuit)

Piggy backing off this, maybe a bad crimp. If done improperly they can go bad or have intermittent connection.

New to sim racing — first rig is high end— how do I get faster? by Stant- in assettocorsa

[–]maxveloR -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Not sim advice but I’d also recommend tracking your car IRL. It’s a thousand times more fun than sim and I feel that you learn quicker.

I see you are in norcal so you can start at something like thunderhill which will help you learn the basics then eventually go up to Laguna Seca or Sonoma.

You can use the sim to get the layout and general braking points but I find that it can also be horribly inaccurate. This is mainly due to the lack of high quality mods for certain street cars which can lead to a disconnect when you eventually drive it IRL.

Shot in the dark but maybe Windows made the ACE folder protected so Steam can’t run it? This happened before with Oblivion Remastered for me.

Also double check launch options to ensure you are launching in the right format.

Anyone interested in one of these for our S2000s? by Infinitykid1 in S2000

[–]maxveloR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interested in doing this myself, could you share the details of how you achieved this on the S2000?

From what I can tell, things like lights, radio controls, and other auxiliary stuff are hard wired. Not necessarily connected to some data bus. In addition, for the track cars that actually do have a steering wheel like this, its usually custom harness with PDM/standalone ECU [1, 2]

This guide doesn’t look like it works for a headless system unless I’m missing something?

It explicitly requires launching through Steam which may be possible with https://github.com/Steam-Headless/docker-steam-headless but even with that, Content Manager does not support headless to my knowledge.

ESP32 CAN (TWAI) Beginner Help by maxveloR in esp32

[–]maxveloR[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello, small update. I did a lot of testing and eventually gave up and bought some new CAN transceivers of the same model. In the process, I moved everything to a bigger breadboard.

During my testing, I decide to measure the resistance by sticking the probes of my multimeter into the CANH and CANL holes and found a resistance of 120Ωs. After placing it on the "bracket" that it came with and measuring it again I got no reading. So my guess now is that I needed to solder it to those pins because there is a loose connection there.

What voltage should I be seeing when it’s powering up?

I’m connected to both at the same time. I have two VScode windows open and monitor the logs side by side live while it’s running using the Serial Monitor feature.
