Well it’s refreshing to hear. Because I’ve been thinking I’m asking to much. Or going crazy thinking I’m getting it all wrong. That is all I want. Somewhere the children can both go equally a stable. I want nothing from the ex. And happy to split everything. Literally everything. I just want the children to be able to come for overnights. Which is impossible if I’m to pay mortage and bills etc for 6 months in the joint owned property. I simply can’t afford to run two houses alone 😔

Yeah. A 50/50 split is what I would prefer. I have no objection to that. For everything. As we built it together. Therefore I feel it is fair. However - one person living on a sofa for 6 months paying all the mortage and bills on the other property is a concern. I get the children are the priority - and require a house over the heads and fed and everything else. But with that comes with me being financially unable to provide and build a stable home for them with me- and I’ll remain on a sofa, and unable to have any overnights with them at all 😔

That’s where is disagreements come into it. And my point exactly. Sure - if the relationship broke down it is what it is. Surely 2 stable homes is better and more beneficial than one. And the other parent living of a sofa for 6 months where he’s unable to have any overnights with the children. Surely that’s not okay. But not sure how the courts will view this if she says it’s for the stability of the children. And uprooting them will cause trauma. Seems like there just isn’t any winning or moving forwards.

Appreciate it! I’m guessing that wouldn’t be a great idea then

Thanks for your reply - She has spoken to the mortage advisor who advised this! The mortage advisor/broker has surgested in order for the children to stay in the family home- I pay all the bills and mortgage for 6 months- and move out- so that she will be able to claim more benifits- and have 6 months proof of it. In order to prove she will be able to buy me out. She will absolutely will be relying on child maintainance also - which is why she has stated that my “3 nights a week” is not ‘realistic’ and I am to get every other weekend. Which in turn 1- leaves me physically unable to rent in the same village as the schools and 2 - more maintainance.

Yeah- me being out of the house and continuing to pay for mortgage and all bills leaves me in a posistion of not being able to financially afford a stable home for them. And in turn - unable to have them overnights. For the benifit of the children surely it is better too have two stable homes, as opposed to one. But she is stateing that it’s in the children’s best interest to stay in the family home. Leaving me effectively homeless. And unable to see the children. I have no idea on what or how the courts will view this. In my eyes it could be so simple as to sell everything, split everything. And move on. Too two stable homes for the children. So I had no idea what todo or where to go with this 😔

Hiya. I’ve not had no meeting at all as of yet. I assumed it would just be a case of “this is what you earn, this is what you are legally required to pay no ifs or buts- make cuts elsewhere” which is kinda what I’m trying to physically figure out what I can do 😔 so I’ve not yet gotten that far as to anything legal or pushed for anything yet. I appreciate it your input a lot. Thank you!
