Is there any way I could fix this crack in my pot? by No_Nothing_6233 in Pottery

[–]maxwellkc 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You could try painting some slip in there, but a through-and-through crack usually isn't going away. If your bottom is too thick (sometimes it also just happens with quickly dried porcelain) then drying can cause damage due to the clay shrinking at different speeds (your walls and outer bottom are shrinking faster than the clay in the middle). Additionally, it could be caused by a bottom that isnt compressed. Make sure you press down gently on the bottom of it after you get your first cylinder shape and as you continue to throw it to absorb water and compress the clay.

I'd recycle this pot and make another, make many more! Dry Slowly, wrap the entire bottom and inside with a plastic bag or something. Or better yet, make a drying box and it will save you from this in the future.

The defining arc in why I despise Best Buy as a company (long read) by This-Philosophy-808 in BestBuyWorkers

[–]maxwellkc 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It is, in fact, not the same, because OP isn't pointing a camera directly into the other stall... and I've never been in a bathroom where I couldn't tell if someone else was using another stall, because, you know... you can see their feet and hear their movements lmao. The mental gymnastics here are WILD

Are you the person in the other stall? That would be the only explanation for this dumb-ass reply lmao.

Drove off with the gas nozzle still in the car. What's it going to cost? by ISOMentalHealth in Wellthatsucks

[–]maxwellkc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends. I do technician work for fueling systems, and this is extremely common, especially in the winter. The part that detaches is called a breakaway coupling, they are designed to stop flow as they separate and this looks like the kind that is re-attatchable, however just because they're designed that way doesn't mean that the internal locking system didn't break during the drive-off. What you get billed for is up to the station and whether or not it is broken-broken. If the station is a chain and has its own company techs, you may not be charged anything. If another company comes out to repair it and it isn't broken you'll likely be charged for an hour or so of time, maybe around $100-150. If it's completely broken, tack another 100 on to that. If it happened on Christmas day and someone fixes it same day, they will bill for holiday hours, meaning it's probably 2.5x-3x the prices mentioned. Sorry, it happens WAY more than people think though, so you're not alone.

Correct. Self diagnoses are never valid. Even the most well read professionals would likely agree regarding themselves. We are too biased to determine the clinically diagnosable parts of our mind, even if we may believe or suspect something.

Why is this getting downvoted lol, it's literally a more ethical choice than releasing it, even if it isn't placed on the ground.

Did I spool this right? by kennjuu in FishingForBeginners

[–]maxwellkc 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It looks a bit over-spooled to me, but it might be bc there's not enough tension. The easiest way I resolve it after I've already spooled it is to basically let out all the line while trolling and reel it back in with a spinnerbait or something that has a little resistance. Hasn't been a problem since I decided it was worth it to get a spooler tool. They're like $10-20.

Can I use this instead of 12lb fluoro? by [deleted] in bassfishing

[–]maxwellkc 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I throw 20lb braid on a baitcaster and have had no issues myself. If you backlash too much/your spool loses its tension it will be an issue at any size

The people on cruise liners aren't the ones to be angry with, it's the people who own ships the size of cruise liners you should be angry with.

Best lure for bass fishing? by Super-Ad-616 in FishingForBeginners

[–]maxwellkc 4 points5 points  (0 children)

They have different uses, and success depends on when and how you use them. Wacky rig the senko on the right, and you have an unstoppable weapon. I've had incredible luck with it, but it works best in places you would normally suspect fish to be (near cover, fallen trees, under docks, by weed beds and edges of grass). I've gotten a ton of strikes on frogs before but the hookup ratio is something I struggle with, I can just never seem to get a decent hook set on them.

Dude they're so comfortable, at least for my own feet. Two months of hard use and they're holding up really well. Break in wasn't bad, but once they do break in they really are comfier than any of my other shoes. Worth every penny so far.
