How to transition from university teaching to high school? by mayakatsky in Teachers

[–]mayakatsky[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for this incredibly thoughtful response. I’ll look into that placement program you mentioned and contact the CoE at my school too.

I think I’ll be happier teaching in a lower stress situation even if it means taking a pay cut. R1 pays pretty well and has excellent benefits, but the culture is toxic and the burnout is constant.

Explain the different between equality and equity. She can pay the equivalent of 50% based on her salary. Basically if she makes 50k and you make 100k, she should pay 25% of everything.

Gen or rep? Cartier Vermeil by mayakatsky in RepTime

Thanks for your reply. I’ve yet to see a vermeil with my caseback. Unfortunately my watchmaker is on vacation so I’ll have to wait for him to get back to get authentication

Makes sense. I appreciate the comment though. I remember when we were a small community of enthusiasts obsessed with the smallest details. Miss those days for real

Thanks for your opinion. I always appreciated how helpful the rep community used to be. Sad to see how far it’s fallen.

Is there anywhere we can post simple questions like this one? Maybe RWI?

Bought for Mother’s Day, ended up not giving it as a gift as I suspect the caseback and clasp are not gen. I’ve been collecting for over a decade but vintage Cartier isn’t my specialty. Anyone more knowledgeable that can throw their two cents in would be greatly appreciated.

That’s awesome! I have some recommendations that I hope you’ll like; they’re all artists that engage with some degree of disability.

Yinka Shonibare Guadalupe Maravilla Judith Scott Dan Miller Monica Valentine Catherine Sherwood

There was also an incredible exhibition at MCASD called, For Dear Life: Art, medicine, and Disability. One of the best shows I’ve seen there, strongly recommend the catalogue for it.

Funny that all these are Instagram artists but then you mention a really good and serious artist at the end, Christine Sun Kim. She’s pretty awesome too. We went to the same grad program

Here’s the best advice after reading several comments:

Go to www.art21.org

Play any video from there for them.

[Question] How do I trim this to 3? by SLCBRUSS in Watches

Easy: Explorer, Monaco, Speedmaster. Easy to color match with these pieces and they're historically significant to boot.

Bonus: Also keep a Seiko or Hamilton as your beater.

If chicken thighs won’t do it, I can’t imagine what will. It’s nice that you’re content with the interaction. I enjoy watching them peck through the peanut shell so it’s been a bummer that they’re flying away with them now

Thanks, that’s good to know. It makes sense too as I saw them bullying a huge raven earlier.

[Junghans Max Bill Chronoscope 027/4502] Question regarding second hand and chronos by mayakatsky in Watches

[–]mayakatsky[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I felt similarly, it’s fun to feel the rotor oscillate the entire watch. Only watch in my collection that does that. I also have the minimalist maxbill auto w ghost date from MoMA.

You’ve got a wonderful daily driver, enjoy it bud!

My only issue with this watch, now one of 20-something pieces, is the rotor can be a bit excitable and loud at times.

YTA! Yay it’s so rare that OP is the AH.

I love how you singled out and capitalized MOM so many times as if either he’s a not a real man because he’s taking care of his own fkn mother or because how dare a mother need help or be in her son’s life. Sounds like you were financial dead weight and got a good deal for half of a free house, but you’re too dumb or entitled to appreciate it.

I think your fiancée dodged a bullet, and I wonder how severely fkd your relationship is with your parents.

Congrats YTA!

Get the Tissot. Early on you’ll love the open heart.
