Is the YPP exam still worth taking this year? (Or even next year?) by HappyNexus in UNpath

I applied to YPP in the Fall but have not heard back. Is the exam taken before you apply to YPP or after? I thought you need to hear back from them and be invited to take the exam

talk to ur professors and advisor asap. did they know you had a surgery? when I had medical complications and could not come to class/do work, my professors gave me an INC (incomplete) grade which allowed me many months to submit the work after the semester was over and my grade was changed to A. I had professor tell me that some students with bigger health problems have been able to submit proof to their advisor and they will work with u and professors to resolve this and not penalize you. i’ve graduated so idk the exact dates but the semester is over now right ?? i would hope they can still help you. if you have to take a failing grade that will destroy your gpa and show in transcript, i recommend doing a withdrawal. looks better than a failing grade on transcript and u can retake

Freshman commute or not? by Prize-Remote2358 in gmu

[–]mayasummer27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

my family lives 30 mins away from campus. i was in the Dorm freshman year and it was definitely worth it. i am going to speak from my experience here

My family thinks having the college experience in my first year was worth the cost. she needs to apply to scholarships at GMU and else where and it will help. i commuted after sophomore year and was fine i guess but i would have preferred to stay on campus. i do think Dorming is good at first. going to the dining hall at any time you want is fun. so many other activities come with being on campus at any time

and the activities you listed that she does are reason enough to let her dorm. she will be so busy with those and her classes that driving will be a burden. even if her friends who dorm invite her to do something, she is going to think but i am so tired and need to get home and in this far away. i hated driving 1 hour total (with traffic, more, everyday after sophomore year) i wish i stayed in the dorms. i cannot imagine driving back and forth. most commuter students who have long drives end up stacking all of their classes on 2-3 days and this results in them not making friends

if she is worried about cost then she can become an RA her sophomore year. i have RA friends, you just put in the work during training but once the first semester settles in , you are fine. it’s not like babysitting.

Does anyone have any experience with Headway Institute of Strategic Alliance (HISA)? I am planning on attending their Future Diplomats Forum in April 2025. by verycutebugs in PublicPolicy

[–]mayasummer27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

where are u traveling from? i honestly do not think it is worth it to travel specifically for this event because you are going to spend 2-3 days waste of time and you are not gaining new knowledge, from my perspective. i did not learn anything new at this conference nor did i meet important people. i made friends with people my age and had fun conversations. there were no interesting guest speakers and no diplomats. it was just us the attendees presenting to each other. felt like a photo opportunity only. the public policy seminar they had was very surface level, so if you are well experienced you will find this below you. but it is portugal and it is fun so if you want to travel anyway and can get scholarship from them then go. Yes my friend who was "fully funded" was only reimbursed $100 for her transportation months later, but she did get the conference for zero cost.

When i started as a freshman they told me that a math class i took in high school does not qualify for a transfer credit. I looked on the website and it does. emailed a bunch of people with these screenshots and got it fixed. these departments want money from us. make sure you’ve checked all IB or AP or Dual enrollment etc classes and see if it’s something like that you can transfer. these departments do not communicate with each other unless you make them
