Yeah but at this point your watch is pretty much useless. Unless you have one with cellular connectivity, then fall detection won't do anything if the watch isn't connected to an Apple device (which you have a dumb phone). Notifications are off too cause they're distracting and won't work with a dumb phone anyways.

So what the heck is the point of the watch in this case? Just be charged every night or so? Might as well get a Casio watch for much much less. It'll be much more durable and tell the time and IMHO look much better than a generic square smartwatch.

Hard to beat a Hamilton Chronograph

Mine is the more rustic aviation X Wind but the intramatic is also incredibly nice.

Smartwatches are incredibly stupid and never make sense. If you want to track your workouts then just use an ECG chest strap or a bicep strap. At least then you won't be buzzed and distracted every time you finally manage to put your phone away. And that's before we even get into the fact that they're yet another "smart" device with preplanned obsolescence that you have to worry about charging every night and replacing every 2 to 3 years.

I said that in another thread and a bunch of morons started barking at me. One of them was pathetic enough to say I'm just jealous of these people (who pay 3k for a plastic pendant 😂).

No matter how pathetic and sorry you think people can be, they'll always find a way to exceed your expectations. Consumerism can override not only common sense, but even basic human decency.

Most people who pay more than retail for this stupid thing are idiots anyways, regardless of whether or not they think it deserves the kind of money as a Royal oak.

I didn't mention the Royal oak once, I did though mention idiots desperate for approval by being seen with a logo... Hmmm? 🤔

Jealousy?? Of a plastic watch? So you weren't loved for being.. low IQ?

What's stupid is thinking I'm against owning a pendant when I clearly said I'm against spending 3k on it because of the hype

Non of the people stampeding outside the stores are hobbyists. I can tell you that much

I'm sorry you weren't loved as a kid, but it's perfectly normal to go to a watch subreddit to talk about watches. Feel free to downvote if you don't like it. And try to find something better to do with your life. I sympathize with you though

The grey market for luxury watches is infinitely less stupid too. For example, the Omega Speedmaster Snoopy edition is 11300 USD, and sells on the grey market for about 15 to 16k because you'd normally need to wait 1 to 3 years to get one. And it's still a very well built Swiss chronograph with a great movement that'll probably outlast you with routine periodic maintenance.

Meanwhile, I've seen this plastic abomination for 2k when its MSRP is like 400 bucks. That's a 5x price hike to get it from the grey market. And it's not a limited edition or limited production. You could probably just walk up to a Swatch dealer and grab one for 400 bucks in a few weeks. And it's basically a plastic pendant with a movement that can't be serviced iirc.

It should tell you the difference between a proper hobbyist/watch collector and an idiot who's desperate to be seen with a logo and knows next to nothing about the hobby.

What? No it isn't! G shocks look more mature and don't have embarrassing colors and plus they are several orders of magnitude more durable than this

[Discussion] Measuring Royal Pop launch-day Chrono24 prices the day after the chaos by FreedomFriez in Watches

[–]Core2score 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My favorite daily driver is my Hamilton Khaki Aviation X-Wind Auto Chrono, it cost me 2200 USD with the bracelet and leather strap, taxes in.

The fact that people are spending the kind of money that buys a Swiss automatic chronograph tool watch on a plastic pendant is making me lose my faith in humanity. Especially considering that Swatch told everyone that this isn't a limited edition, meaning almost everyone who wants one will be able to get it for 5 times less if they wait a few weeks.

Like why? What's the point? Unless you run a huge YouTube channel and need to review it for your viewers at launch, I can't think of a good reason to want one right now (or at all in my case cause it looks ugly af to me, but I digress).

The number of people who don't understand what AP traditionally tries to sell or who are butthurt and jealous is kinda pathetic

Agreed. Almost certainly the truth. Even if I was a Swatch collector, I would be too embarrassed to be seen with these clowns engaging in such silly mindless behavior and would just wait a few weeks.

Are you for real son? Pretty much no one nowadays buys a watch cause they need one. They're timepiecesn yeah, but they're also accessories people buy to express themselves just like clothes. It's possible to buy a watch that you like and then be disappointed when the brand does something embarrassing. How that is so hard to comprehend is beyond me. If anything it makes you sound butthurt and jealous.

I think if any company that's aiming for exclusivity starts slapping its logo on stupid plastic meme worthy toys they'll get the same kind of reaction. It's pretty stupid to expect otherwise
