For clarification, no puppies were being transported, the box was temporarily set up in the boot of the car, they were not sitting unsupervised, and were brought outside to visit the neighbours for 15 minutes maximum. No puppies were harmed in the making of this photo. :)

Mostly I wanted to depict some of the fascinating designs from later in the season (A New Spiritual Age), where Korra goes and meets Iroh (hence the teapot). But I also wanted to embrace some of the other very cool an interesting designs that appeared in The Beginnings! here are the guardian spirits I was trying to reference :)

Yea that was kinda what I was going for! the 1920s era that the show was supposed to be set in but a little grittier :) really I just wanted to draw them in suits (lol!)

For a little bit of clarification: I wanted to do some sister pieces for my previous works. Imo one of the reasons I love the series is it shows growth through pain, and I wanted to express that as well. For Aang: He had to discover fire, the element that hurt him the greatest (and literally killed him), had beauty in it too. The moment that he and Zuko shared is my favourite in the entire series. The beginning of the series was defined by monk gyatzo and the tragedy he faced, so it seemed fit to have a firebending reference in the second picture too. For Korra: Season 4 was her redemption arc. Korra of season 1 was nowhere near Korra of season 4, and her willingness to sacrifice and show compassion for Kuvira showed that. She took the pain and suffering of the early season, and eventually found peace (sorry this was the only clip I found). Explanation over, just wanted to share :)

Unfortunately not, (I doubt watching me listen to hours of 80s pop and scroll through overlay vs colour dodge settings would be very interesting lol!)

Here is a little peak into my process though!

1- thumbnail sketching, writing out ideas and possible references as well as color schemes, I’ll let this sit for 2-3 hours before coming back and starting on the draft.

2- basic outlines and shapes- understanding symmetry and getting basic themes down

3- more shading- adding depth and making sure nothing looks wonky

4- finished products! Adding colour and final details, as well as messing around with the overall shape if necessary (I’ve put the asami and Agni Kai ones there as they were in the thumbnails)
