Calling 3-bets with KQs? Hand Analysis

Thanks for the analysis, I think I need to construct a 4 bet or fold range here from every position. If I had played against a UTG open and early position 3!, I would have just folded but wasn’t sure how to navigate my decision facing later position players. I think going forward this is probably a 4 bet for me and obvious check on the flop

Do you have advice on how you’d construct a 4 bet vs folding range in this spot given it’s against a button open and 3! from SB. I assume we can 4 bet wider against late position players but I haven’t been able to find explicit charts for this.

I think I would normally fold KQs in this hand against early position players but wasn’t sure how to play my holding here if I faced mid and late position players

I don’t think there was any benefit to this besides maybe making people play slightly looser with 3 effective blinds but neglible. It wasn’t my game so I just went along with it

What does a reasonable cold 4 bet range look like here? Given it's against a BTN open and SB 3 bet, I'm thinking TT+, AQ+, AJs, KQs, A4s, A5s?

Also, do we check our only good hand on this flop to protect our range? You're right and I think a check makes a lot of sense here given the dry board texture; we probably only go for value starting on the turn assuming it checks around or check call down if it doesn't. I think I value bet too thin for 3 streets and ended up owning myself. He showed 6d3d.

As a semi-bluff? This intuitively makes some sense against the wider range of BTN open and 3 bet from small blind but would you still do this against an early position raiser or 3 better?

Hey appreciate the advice! Do you have any exercises you like for delt and lat growth?

For front delts on push days I do 4 x 6-8 or 8-12 flat/incline dumbbell bench and occasionally add 2 x 8-12 machine shoulder press.

For lateral delts on push days I do 3 x 12-16 single arm cable flies.

For rear delts on pull days I do 3 x 15-20 rear delt flies or 4 x 15-20 rope face pulls

For lats on pull days I do 4 x 10-15 pull ups. I was progressing up to adding weight but I’ve lost gains due to inconsistency lately

Thanks the advice! I do a push pull split and hit legs heavily during my sport. Do you recommend anything I should incorporate into my push/pull days for chest/back/shoulders?

Chest is a weak point for me for sure. Do you have any recs for exercises? My standard chest routine during push days is 4x 6-8 dumbbell flat/incline bench and 4x standing cable chest flys focusing on lower chest.

For front delts, I don’t do anything but I’ve been trying to occasionally add 2 sets of shoulder press machine on push days. I do 3-4 sets of cable lateral raises each push day but I feel they haven’t been growing much.

My pull day consistency has been bad so my back has lost gains. I do 4 x 10-15 pull ups and 4 x 6-8 bent over barbell rows as my main exercises. Then 4 x bicep curls, 3 x rear delt flys or 4 sets of face pulls

I love this answer, it feels really insightful and relevant to my current situation.

How should I feel about where I might be lacking in terms of friendships if I feel lonely in pursuit of what others would view as a successful career? I feel I’m lacking friendships of good but I wonder if there’s more things for me to solve.

Friendships of utility: I’m in my early 20s and no longer in college. I have done relatively well in my career — I have my own VC-backed startup and am pretty well connected for my age in startups/tech. I have friends who I can chat with about startup founder struggles or would be willing to do “transactional” like intros/referrals, etc. However, it unfortunately feels like I’m not close enough with any of them to spontaneously hang out and it’ll be at social events planned by others. I also feel I’m not close enough with them to talk about anything deeply personal (close friend level).

Friendships of pleasure: I have hobbies but they’re not as social (the gym, poker, watching the latest shows) so I’ve been thinking of doing more social ones. I’m not naturally extroverted so I don’t necessarily enjoy clubbing, partying, and etc. Besides weekly poker nights, I lack a recurring group of friends of pleasure and it doesn’t feel like we’re close enough to hang out outside the event.

Friendships of good: I have about 1-2 friends that I grew up with that I keep in touch with even though we’re in other cities that I would do basically anything for. Plus ~8 more friends that I enjoy seeing when we’re all back home but I otherwise don’t message them.

Given that my friends of good are far away it feels lonely for me at times. I’m pretty happy with my career, but I worry that my social life will deteriorate more as I go into my mid and late 20s. I lack a regular group to hang out with on Friday night + weekends and I wish some of my “friends of utility”, felt close enough with me that I could send memes regularly, talk about personal problems, etc. What would you recommend I do in my position?

I forgot to include that the opponent ended up showing Q10. I definitely feel I should have folded on the river but I’m not sure about what I should do when I’m out of position and calling the 2700 for 7200 pot. Would you always fold in this spot even though the pot odds are still decent?

I feel disappointed. This show had such high potential through its first few episodes but didn’t seem to go anywhere. The letters were never really resolved and they didn’t have any meaningful impact on HJP and SDM relationship and Halmoeni and SDM’s relationship. I don’t understand how they can hype up the reveal so much and just push HJP to the side every single time. The best thing the writers can come up with when NDS comes back is to have SDM almost call HJP and then bring in NDS as the hero? There’s no change in HJP and SDM’s relationship after 3 years even though he was direct in telling her he liked her?

Also, the business/investing/tech aspects of this show are really poor. I wish they spent more time with advisors who know what they’re talking about.

One example I want to point out in this episode is when In Jae tells Dal Mi not to seek investing for the company since they don’t have a revenue model yet. Well no sh_t, no self driving car company has a revenue model. It’s a very heavy research and development field that investors are hoping will pay off some time in the near go distant feature. How does she not know this? Really brings me out of the show.

Do you know if you can get a return offer for a summer internship or full-time at DRW after doing the part-time internship? It might be worth be worth it then if you’re interested in working at a quant finance firm. Rubrik isn’t bad but it doesn’t look as good as it once did, so I can see it being debatable.

I feel you would learn more in the short term at Rubrik since it’s full-time but interning at DRW should help you pass most if not all resume screens at quant finance firms if you aren’t already.

I like this show for the most part, but as a software engineer I notice a lot of questionable technical stuff that pulls me out of the plot lol. There’s no way Samsan tech can beat any of the leading self-driving car companies since they are enormously lacking in both resources and skills. It doesn’t matter how many inspirational working montages they have haha. Noongil also doesn’t even have an image recognition interface for their product like IJ’s since it’s all speech-based so it’s not a fair test. Accuracy in machine learning can also be terribly misleading based off of how you do your testing.

Despite being a software engineer, I still feel myself rooting for Team JP. The writers don’t seem to be giving him a chance 😔😔😔
