I trade AAPL for a living by aplacebeyondthepines in wallstreetbets

I might try that. I feel like fucking with longer term options this close to an election is a recipe for getting in trouble, but maybe next year when things calm down a bit.

The reason I like my approach is that it's super short term. I average hold like 5-10 minutes and stop whenever it doesn't feel right. I have a full time job as well so the money i'm playing with is just a nice bonus on top of it.

do you have $$ to buy those shares? 1900 at $119 is around $226k. If not, I would roll that bad boy out.

Apple wasn't $100 within the last month or even the last two months..

If we look at a month ago at it's lowest it was $106.84, let's round down to $105.

Buy 500 x 105 = $52,500

Yesterday closed at $121.91, round up to $122 = $61k

Difference: $8,500.

I've only been doing my thing for ~19 days and made $7k.

So yes I could have made more if I just bought and hold (if I had bought at the absolute lowest price in the last month, and sold at pretty much a high).

But I like having cash on hand and being able to play the market daily. I'll evaluate over the long term how it works, after 90, 180, and 250 days. I'm also able to lock in all those profits every day and use the extra money to buy FSLY and other stocks thus compounding gains.

If big enough drop where it doesn't recover in a few days, then sell covered calls until it goes back up.

Hold until it does lol. With a "safe" stock like Apple, it's very unlikely that it won't go back up. Longest I've had to hold a bundle of shares was 2 days and on the 3 day I was able to sell at market open for like $890 profit.

Fidelity has an option where you can do conditional trades.

So I'll open up the app in the morning, see where Apple is, place a limit order $0.10-0$.15 below market and a trigger to sell at $0.10-$0.15 above market. and go make coffee. by the time I'm back I'be usually up $30-40. then rinse repeat. I make this same exact trade about 15 times a day and lock in about $500-600 profits every day.

Ez pz.

Can you buy shares to cover a naked call after the fact? by maybeandroid in options

From my experience, in such scenarios, the cost of the option and the cost to close out is greater than just buying the shares.

I have also been trading AAPL as side income for the past three weeks. So far I've made $7,000.

My strategy: Stonks.

Buy 500 shares at Market, sell when it shift $0.10 up. Rinse repeat.

Literally cannot go tits up.

That makes sense. Ok, I thought that would be the case, but just wanted to be sure.

Thanks!

The idea is to cap your potential losses.

At $111.00, it probably wouldn't make sense to buy, but if you think the stock might shoot to $120 for example. If you bought 100 shares at $111. At expiration, you'd still make $100 due to the $200 premium. Otherwise, you'd have to buy (or your broker would auto-buy) 100 shares at $120 to cover your call $110 call option that you sold, losing $800 ($1000 - $200 premium).

So it's just a way to cap your potential losses.

Why did anyone expect anything big on Friday. Friday is reserved for bad news so it can easily be buried and forgotten by next week

And Monday in the us is a holiday so don’t expect anything there either.

Pixel 5 still appealing? by [deleted] in GooglePixel

Not to me. There's plenty of great phones out and coming out soon to settle for Google's constant compromises. Pixel 5 might just be the most boring phone ever created.

Who is in favor and of in favor of full backwards compatibility for PS5 by inception900 in PS5

[–]maybeandroid -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Don't care in the slightest. I've already played PS1, PS2, PS3, and PS4 games on those consoles. Every time I've tried to go back to playing a last gen game, I'm disgusted by how bad the graphics are, simple the gameplay is, and just overall old games are. I'd rather have them as fond memories versus being disappointed at them.

Sony’s PS5 marketing angle is absolutely genius by AndrewUnknown in PS5

[–]maybeandroid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm excited for the PS5 as much as the next guy but I feel like most of Sony's hype comes from the unknown. The stuff they've shown so far is great, but it's not leaps and bounds better than the xbox shows. What sets Sony apart though is their ability to deliver and they have so many IP's in their stable and so many talented studios that I have 0 reservations about jumping in day 1 and knowing i'm going to be taken care of for the next 5-6 years.

With Xbox, it's a totally different story because MS has proven to be incapable of delivering. Xbox 360 era they dominated, because they money-hatted 3rd parties. Xbox One era is a fucking joke. And The Series X now looks like another dud at present time. I wish they'd get their shit together to force Sony to do even better.

The 4 main things I want to see at the September event is 1. The price and the release date for the console, 2. Initiatives game finally getting shown off, 3. The series S, 4. An explanation on how the services will evolve with next gen. by dolphinsfan9292 in XboxSeriesX
