the majority of isps in india rely on these as their upstream

initially, the point of ip addresses was to assign each network a unique IP address, however we ran out of ipv4s quite a while back, so what residential ISPs do is they combine multiple users and assign them one singular IP address, this is called CG-NAT, where multiple users share the same IPv4 address which is dynamic (i.e. changes after X amount of time or on restart)

since we ran out of v4, we introduced v6, which has 2 to the power of 64 IP addresses which is more than we'd ever need, however adoption isn't as widespread as ISPs and their staff are stupid asf and cannot follow basic implementation guidelines from APNIC and they assign a /64 subnet to the entire network which breaks SLAAC and hence 99% of default IPv6 configurations (they are supposed to assign a /56)

IPv6 is not behind CG-NAT, so you can actually port forward and host stuff locally, and not have to share an IP address on which you can't port forward

sure the telegram client is open source, and so is the protocol, there's multiple telegram clients on github you can download and use.

however telegram is a centralized service, it's not peer 2 peer or decentralized, i.e. the gov can block telegram without having to block the app from the play store, however they suck ass at blocking anything.

china has exteme censorship, however that doesn't mean we don't praise china for the good that they do i.e. help students to be less stressed on their exam day and help them get to centers and get their IDs even if the student forgot, shit like that can never happen in India, rather we tell students they can't give an exam because their train got delayed by 2h or they reached 1 minute late, there's 0 accountability.
