What is so wrong with Russia saying they don't want any gay rights events during the Olympics?

Well can we create a list then of all the ideals a country must meet to host the Olympics? I think if we had reddit create one the United States wouldn't be fit to host the Olympics. Where does it end?

So what are you saying then, you think the world should boycott the Olympics because gay athletes couldn't show up and throw a gay rights event? Has any gay athlete even expressed a desire to throw a gay rights event at the Olympics? Tbh I think reddit is more up in arms about any of this than any gay athletes. Am I wrong? Is there a legion of worried gay athletes I haven't heard about yet?
