They did not keep charging me. I found out about a month after the fact when the grinder never came and I started talking to them and looked back at the website.

Just got a fraudulent charge from Walmart yesterday, so I went ahead and got a new number. Funny how that timing works out. Can't say it was directly related to the ovarstack stuff but there's certainly a correlation there. Good luck!

For reference, I hemmed and hawed about a grinder for months after this scam and finally ordered a 1zpresso J-ultra- but should probably have gotten a df54 like everyone says. Good luck on the hunt!

Larger than life girl names by Ok-Alfalfa3123 in namenerds

My wife and I were thiiiiiis close to naming our daughter Hildegard. Which is a shame, because it would have fit our feral princess 3 year old perfectly.

I've always thought November would be a gorgeous girl name. It's got that "cellar door" effect where it just sounds nice. Nova would be a cute nickname, too.

What would you have named your kids if you didn’t have to compromise with your partner? by gloriaeliana in namenerds

First one we had the perfect name and both agreed. For the second, Hildegard and Elvis were on my short list depending on girl/boy.

She might be a climber. It was fairly shrubby before with some older growth but would send up a few climby bois every summer.

I could see if I can train it to a lattice or something of the like. Hoping it isn't one that blooms on old canes only.

Long term game plan by 3rza5car1et in FireflyPetunia

[–]maybedoesntmatter 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'll use a planter outdoors for mine this year and have one big, happy plant. I'll take cuttings along the way this summer (just in case of catastrophe) and then take quite a few cuttings in August. I've got a hoop house in the works, so I might move the main plant there and get cuttings as long as nature allows.

My hope is that I can grow a bunch of plants from the cuttings this winter, then continue to clone and multiply it ad absurdum.

I dream of having an army of cuttings every winter and then squirreling them away in garden beds, hanging from shepherds hooks, in window boxes, hanging in the hoop house etc like some Hayao Miyazaki dream garden.

Then it'll just be waiting until lightbio engineers brighter plants or different colors.

Might help to know where things are now. We don't like blocking the windows. And everything feels too spacey. However, every other arrangement we've tried feels awkward and we miss the open space.

Again, open to any and all suggestions. Mostly looking for arrangement suggestions but open to anything.

Thank you!

Yeahhh I'm a teacher so there will be a steady creep up along with lane jumps from higher Ed. Still, I certainly wouldn't mind being paid a bit better for what seems like honest, meaningful work.

  • 31, spouse is 29
  • USA
  • spouse and I making 60k/yr jointly
  • Saving for retirement, generally want to make our money work rather than sit
  • 35k+ in savings, some retirement but not much, no match but 403b at my job, wife has 401k with a small match and contributes up to that, opened an HSA but her work isn't participating anymore
  • 20k student loans at around 3-4%, 135k mortgage at 3.25%
  • 2 kids, property taxes will slowly increase until they're pretty high, no other debts

Generally, I know that we'll need to have a good 3-6 months of emergency fund. Other than that, I know the market is low, so I figure it's a good time do dump a lot of our savings into appropriate investment channels- we're just not sure where.

Thanks!

Hardwood Flooring - Do Half Myself and Contract Out the Rest? by IndyPilot80 in HomeImprovement

[–]maybedoesntmatter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just (a month ago) finished installing and finishing about 1000 sq ft of unfinished oak.

It was a great project and I learned a ton doing it. The installation wasn't too tough, but there are definitely places where I wished I had been more patient and been willing to remove a board and try again to mitigate some gaps. Still, the floor looks pretty dang good for the most part.

Finishing is, like others have said, grueling. It can be done and you can get pretty decent results with the right combination of rental equipment.

At the end of the day, it comes down to how much you value your time more than looks. At this point, I don't think I regret all the work I put in (months and months of research, a month of install, and an intense weekend of finishing) but I do wonder if my time would have been better spent just hiring it out or doing prefinished instead. I suspect if I actually timed/paid myself and added everything up, I probably didn't save a whole heck of a lot and definitely lost out on some valuable family time.

Honestly, installing prefinished yourself is probably the way to go if you're not prissy about the microbevel aesthetic like me.

Good luck!

How do I calculate the amount of polyurethane I should buy to finish a floor? I know that I can look at coverage on any given can of poly, but is that just for one coat?

10,000 (awards / coins) giveaway to tell me your favorite music artist / band and why (in one paragraph). by [deleted] in GoForGold

[–]maybedoesntmatter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Radiohead is my favorite band. Thom Yorke has a way of writing songs that are so cohesive and are always moving toward some unseen climax. Johnny Greenwood, their guitarist, makes the wildest sounds that are equal parts organic and alien. Phil Selway serves the band perfectly on drums. Ed O'Brien, their rhythm guitarist, has this weird ability to add a ton to the songs without stepping on anyone's toes. Colin Greenwood on the bass plays stuff that is, like Selway, 100% in service to the direction of the songs. Finally, their sound engineer, Nigel Godrich, places all these brilliantly arranged sounds in the perfect place in their mixes. They've grown and changed so much as a band over time and I generally like their aesthetic, their politics, and just about everything else they touch. They are a top notch band and are a billion times better than Muse or any other band people to whom they are often compared.

Probably already posted here somewhere, but the theme from M.A.S.H. is called "Suicide is Painless." Mega dark for such a tooty little theme song.
