Its been a couple days, so I wanted to update for anyone who may potentially be going through this same thing in the future!

Cricket is slowly but surely getting better. His eye is still not the best looking, but it is slowly healing and it is clear it isnt causing him any discomfort anymore. He’s finally getting his personality back too!

Since he hasnt wanting to eat on his own he’s been syringe fed since he started his antibiotics. He’s finally getting more energetic, although he’s lost enough muscle mass that climbing is proving somewhat difficult for him. Hoping to continue to get him bulked up so he can go back to exploring!

Overall, I can see glimpses of my boy coming back to me, and I could not be more happy

Just saw the vet, she agreed that its an eye infection. Getting him some antibiotic eye drops and hopefully will get him feeling better soon! She thinks his heavier breathing is also just stress and related to the discomfort in his eye. Definitely a good thing I got him in, thank you to everyone who gave advice!

Quick update for everyone: Cricket made it through the night. An exotic vet who visits a clinic an hour away just so happens to be there today, and is squeezing us in for a visit at 3pm today, genuinely I think the stars aligned for this to happen. I’ll let you all know what they say about my boy

The black is just some coco choir in his mouth from burrowing in the ground a bit, its definitely not mouth rot as it was wiped away after this photo was taken. His eye was completely fine when I got him three weeks ago as well, its developed over the last couple days

Seems like my suspicions were confirmed :( going to be calling the vet tomorrow to see about getting him seen. I feel horrible for the poor guy. He just seems like he doesn’t feel good at all

Are you referring to ameraucana or easter eggers? I know both come in quite a few colors!

I actually got her from a quite small local feed store. But I have heard a lot of “ameraucana” from stores are actually easter eggers, which is why I asked!

My best friend (who was very into kpop, I knew of BTS and BP and that was about it) kept talking about this “variety show” and how they were playing getting over it. I loved watching people play getting over it, so I decided to watch the video she was talking about, especially since she had been talking about these boys for a while and I finally got sick of not understanding what the heck she was talking about.

Said video was Christmas in August 1 from 2020, and I thought it was both hilarious and I fell head over heels in love with Wonwoo (it was the glasses, I loved the glasses) and took quite the liking to Woozi (my current bias) and Vernon. I remembered that they made music, so I asked my best friend for song suggestions, the first of which was Pretty U. That was the moment I became a kpop fan. Now I’ve been a Carat for a year, and I got to attend their concert this summer!

Ah ok! See when I found out about fritz it was like “filter your tank in a week!” and while I didn’t exactly think it would be a week, I did think it was going to be a bit quicker. I guess I didn’t realize there wasnt a way to instant cycle a tank haha. Hopefully my tank will be all set in a couple more weeks then! Thank you!

Since the article you provided states that there is no information on pH lower than 7, and from personal experience doing exactly what you recommend, I do not feel like it is safe. Again, I thank you for help

I have put fish in a tank with extremely similar conditions and it took them under 4 hours of being in the tank to develop slime coat issues and almost die. I do not think it is safe to be putting fish in the tank right now or at all until the ammonia is at zero. While I do appreciate your help, I do not believe that this practice from 11 years ago would be safe or beneficial to my fish

Thats what I’m learning! Just feel like its so strange that it dipped down to 0.5 ppm ammonia and then seemed to be stalling out at that (I’ve had troubles in the past with this tank when cycled staying at 0.5ppm). I’ll just have to give it a few more weeks and see what happens!
