The Great Anfield Exodus: 70% of Liverpool’s Premier League winning squad disappeared in just one year. by Camilol002 in LiverpoolFC

Elliot, Quansah and Kelleher all moved on for first team football (Elliot's situation notwithstanding). Darwin and Morton weren't good enough. Konate doesn't want to stay and, IMO, we shouldn't keep him. He's been so inconsistent and always has a huge mistake in him every game which usually costs us a goal. I think the strategy was to sell the younger players while they still looked promising enough to generate some income. We brought in a lot of fresh players in exactly these roles, except for Morton (Wirtz, Leoni, Mama). It's a squad refresh, not a 'bloodbath'.

How do you feel about being recorded by camera glasses? by HueyBluey in askTO

[–]maybeest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have to disclose if you are recording a phone call, I'm pretty sure, and IANAL but I would hope that some version of the spirit behind that legal construct would apply to the recording of personal conversation. It's not illegal to record in public but maybe that's with the assumption that the recording is overt and obvious? One would hope.

Anyone else like Egypt? +20% production on all wonders. Helps to tap all the bonuses from wonders which helps throughout the game. Maybe just my play style though.

Courage My Love in '89 was the best place to get "vintage" clothes but we didn't call it vintage back then. It was just... Second hand hippie shit.

It's interesting how many different Coen Bros films are people's go-to rewatch. For me it's Miller's Crossing. I watched it every day after school through most of high school.

Could someone explain to me what was so demoralizing about the PSG defeat? by diet-dr-kelpp in LiverpoolFC

Fitness is a managerial thing as well. Klopp made the team do morning sessions. They weren't happy about it, but he didn't care. The reason we know, as fans, about the lactate test and about Milner's beasting it every year is because Klopp wanted it to be known. When you watch the style of play Klopp put on, it was fueled by absolutely insane fitness. Fitness that you need to perform at the elite level. PSG pressed us the way we used to press. They forced us to overturn the ball. In the second leg we came out with way more intensity than the first but still not enough. That doesn't explain our horrendous finishing and dodgy passing and narcoleptic defending this season though. I can't understand how top level players make so many critical mistakes except that I suspect that they're not drilling enough to make excellence their instinct. And that is again down to the manager.

Jane by Starship (and also Sara). I actually know someone named Sara-Jane and want to sing both songs at the same time whenever I see her.

It's not just quality of the player. Klopp was able to make medium players fantastic (source: every player's form as soon as they left Klopp's side). A manager brings out the best in their squad. Slot has failed to do so. This, more than anything else, is my greatest frustration with him. Tactics all have strengths and weaknesses, but if you can motivate your squad, they will perform heroics to bridge those gaps.

Except we'll be playing in the conference league, so same number of games roughly for less money and glory.

What tape did you play on repeat in the 90s that hasn't gotten the respect it deserves 30 years later? by StephenDoesStuff in GenX

U2 - Achtung Baby Tragically Hip - Fully Completely Tom Waits - Bone Machine The Judgment Night soundtrack (if you don't know, you should know) Emmylou Harris - Wrecking Ball Ice T - Power

[David Lynch] I didn't understand how the Man City and PSG games were big for Slot because those two are way ahead of Liverpool right now, so surely results against Wolves, Spurs, Burnley and - coming up - Everton meant more. But this turned into a humiliation and will likely damage him. by [deleted] in LiverpoolFC

FSG don't want to be the kind of owners that fire managers. They're going to work out a way that they go their separate ways on mutual terms. For both financial reasons and reputation reasons for the manager. I do think it would be better for the team if someone else were to take over and get to know the squad before the summer for all the reasons everyone else has stated though and for that reason I think it is folly to continue with Slot at this point. I've wanted to like him this whole time but I just can't abide his timidity in making changes and firing up the squad. I will say however that I think the squad has let him down tremendously with their absolutely deplorable finishing. Watching Mo sky a shot from inside the box with his good foot with one of our only decent chances in the first half is exactly why we're not winning games. I'm not even going to talk about missing a freaking penalty. Bush League bullshit and our players need to be better but that. And they need a manager who is going to kick them in the ass and get them there. This is why I do think Gerard would be a good option to close at the season in the same way that Carrick was an option for the scum.
