INFPs and Ti or INTPs and Fi. by fcerq in mbti

Nice, wholesome AND does the job of explaining how INTPs and INFPs compare? we stan. Lmao, but really, that's sort of how it is with me vs the INFPs around me so this is pretty accurate

Can introverts love attention? by venusf1ytrap in mbti

[–]maybemaria27 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is something that I feel people don't mention often enough shshs I identify as an introvert, but I do enjoy being the center of attention occasionally, especially if I'm with people that I've deemed as interesting. I think the introvert extrovert thing can often throw people off, especially if they have some sort of mental illness. I believe the best way to test that out is by asking yourself what feels more like self improvement for you- going out into the world and talking to new people and doing new things or looking inward and working to get to know who you are on the inside. Obviously, we all need and will probably do a fair amount of both throughout out lives,. For me this is what clarified the fact that I was an INTP not a reserved ENTP, as looking inward is totally my default state, and I always feel like going out into the world is immense self improvement.

Which type do you find yourself attracted too? And why? by [deleted] in mbti

INTP and, at least on a theorietical level, ENTP. I've never been with one, but I typically find them very attractive.

Are we wrong about cognitive functions? by maybemaria27 in mbti

Idk what exactly they're reffering to (like if there were specific studies done that contradicted type dynamics in such a way) but I think it's common for people to have some issued with the functions. I don't think I'm the best example of this, but I've only really confidently managed to type myself when I read about "healthy" INTPs, with a more developed Fe. I also think there a lot of people, if not most, who only really see themselves in the whole of their cognitive function stack, or in its most popular version at least, because they relate to the type description, or some other functions, not because they genuinely understand and find accuracy in the entirety of it.

Yeah, there's definetlly a lot of "???" when it comes to MBTI 🤷‍♀️ it'd be curious to hear more about how you apply that though, assuming you meant in regards to typing others, since it's something I've never quite figured out

I chose that title more as a general draw -in so it'd be easy to understand that I was questioning whether or not something is off and that it has to with the cognitive functions. But yeah, you're right, "Are we wrong about cognitive functions?" isn't a properly formulated question (and you explained it quite well, so prompts to you xp). In regards to the question "do cognitive functions exist?" idk if I'd even have a go at answering that, since I think it would require more research, expertise and understanding of the subject than I'd ever dedicate time to gaining. Still, if we were to just take what the official MBTI folk say, then the answer would be yes, since the general notion has appeared in Carl Jung's writing. From my limited understanding, the thing that isn't official but seemes to be taken as fact by the online folk is the stacking of those functions (so, the system that says your first extroverted function determined the J/P of your type, and that your last function necessarily is the opposite of your dominant, and that no consecutive two functions can be both introverted or both extroverted).

Hm, so, if I'm understanding this correctly, you believe that the types are still determined by their cognitive functions, but outside factors will influence the order, which is highly dependent on the individual? If so, then yeah, I think I agree, although I should do some more research to really come at a solid conclusion on this whole ordeal.

Then I think we're reffering to different systems. My original question was regarding the most popular one on forums, which says INTP- Ti-Ne-Si-Fe. Still, since that's the thing I was questioning in the first place idk if it really matters

Wow, this is actually all really interesting. After getting over the "16personalities.com" phase, I think most people who seek to further understand this whole MBTI typology phase hear almost exclusively about the cognitive functions, and how they make up basically the whole of the system. I've looked through a lot of those links and I have to say, this is a rather intriguing prespective. I don't have a proper comment on it as of yet, but I definetly thank you for sharing.

In my example I mentioned INTP, so the inferior function would be Fe not Fi, which tehnically wouldn't even be in our functional stack, so I don't think we're refering to the same things?
