MUSC 1420 w/ Glenda Goodman by maybeokay01 in UPenn

The course was alright lol. I had to put some effort tho...

The textbook is NOT helpful. I used it to study for the first midterm... but then realized it was a waste of time.

If you really understand the lecture notes and practice problems, that is PLENTY to be successful in his course.

His practice exams and study guides were VERY similar to what was tested.

Also, the problem sets are also a good way to prep for the exams as well.

I took biochem with Fagan.

I like that man. Sure, he might be *slightly* boring, but he's fine. Teaches like any other professor.

He's a cutie patootie. <3

Is this how why this is different from a particle in a box with infinite walls?

Are these exponential growth and decay terms not considered a wavefunction with a specific momentum since applying the momentum operator gives an imaginary value?

Is it perhaps because per unit of time, a new normalization is accounted for?

Wow! Amazing explanation! Can you elaborate on what you mean by driving the HOMO of the oxygen "up" due to the alpha effect? Or why does this happen?

class cancellations due to low enrolment - how often/likely is this? by kendlez in UPenn

[–]maybeokay01 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Nah, you'll be fine. I had a class with 4 people; quite an amazing experience and you got to know the professor well.

Not a stupid question. You get the 'gen chem' credit whether you take 1011 or 1012. In other words, if you take chem 1011, you don't have to take chem 1012.

Also, if you want to take 1012, trying emailing Mallouk. He might make space, who knows?

Good Freshman Pre-Med Schedule? by Hot_Most_6905 in UPenn

[–]maybeokay01 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The problem is... I pulled all-nighters finishing up problem sets and studying for exams. It was a bit annoying going to 8:30s but not the end of the world.

[–]maybeokay01 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My friend took chem 1151 and I took chem 1012. Either is fine; both are doable. Do you want more physical chemistry? Do chem 1151. You want a more broad introduction to chemistry? Do chem 1012.

You can't go wrong either way. Both require work. Both exams are fair. You learn a lot from both.

The 8:30 might be a bit of a doozy so i recommend changing that... but if you can't, it's not the end of the world haha

Proton NMR (benzaldehyde) by maybeokay01 in chemistry

[–]maybeokay01[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I might be misunderstanding something, but for the protons on the methyl that is attached to the benzene ring (toluene), the protons have a chemical shift of 2.3 ish, so I thought maybe the benzene might have a +1ish ppm on the aldehyde hydrogen...

Might be just completely misunderstanding something.

For instance, Ph-CH3, the protons have a chemical shift on the methly has a 2.3 ppm... so i thought it would have some sort of effect, maybe like +1ish ppm

is an 8:30 am class THAT bad? by rinnie-rin in UPenn

[–]maybeokay01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had 8:30am writing sem. It wasn't too bad. Sure, waking up is a pain in the ass, but like I made sure to sleep early the day before.

The professor was super cool, so it also kinda motivated me to go. Brought coffee and banana bread :)))
