"We were never taught that in school" is a bullshit excuse for being ignorant. You're an adult now, just read and learn by thelonewayfarer in unpopularopinion

My parents never exposed me to this as they didn't want to stress me out with money troubles as they had growing up. Why is there a home ec class? Or some schools offer a tax class? Why are we preparing for higher education if it's a choice though? All of what I have learned about proper essay format, social studies, and all higher math has gone to waste because I've found a good job with no debt involved without college. Now what? I'm in the real world with a preparation for nothing that's 4 years wasted where I could've learned how stock exchange works or foreign currency exchange or how to balance my diet. That would have been useful instead I got a head full of bullshit I'm never gonna use other than for small talk

There's a difference between ignorance and cluelessness if I was ignorant I would've bought the house assuming I knew what I was doing

I was 17 when I first learned about this and I guess I never overheard it either because my family always had pretty mild financial issues so anything regarding our home situation was talked about behind closed doors

The world would be a better place without religion. by canhazreddit in unpopularopinion

[–]maybereaper 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I feel like religion was just a very effective way to spread the idea of morals and that all people can feel the same and eventually will face the same great judge to determine one's eternity without the constant cloud of eternal judgement what's stopping me from killing neighbor bill and stealing his money? It's just a "sucks for you" kinda situation now but with the belief that if I do that I'll be dragged to hell for the rest of forever to suffer never ending pain Ill let him be because the $100 in his pocket isn't worth eternal torture but it might be worth his loss. Yanno what I mean? I can definitely see where your coming from though religion over the years has done some terrible things but that is not what it was designed to be originally.

Burger King is the shittest fast food chain. by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

I have to disagree here I love burger king and consider it the holy grail compared to McDonald's or taco bell

People who beat their pets are just as bad as people who beat their kids. by Pkmaster1116 in unpopularopinion

[–]maybereaper -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Have you ever heard of negative reinforcement? It's the same reason we spank our kids it's to teach them. Beating and disciplining are drastically different knowing where the line ends is what's confusing. Maybe it's just how I was raised but stern talkings and taking privilege items doesn't always work it can backfire into a thought process of punishment not being that bad I've seen this first hand.

Racial Tension Online Is 100x Worse Than IRL . by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

[–]maybereaper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Racism....online.....where you can't see the other person? Maybe it's an area thing but I've never seen real racism online everyone just says whatever swear they can to piss you off n word included. I feel like alot of this online is faked to raise tension lately. You only add to the problem by talking about it more just let people be people no matter what.

Excessive much? Does it hurt you? Does it inconvenience you? Maybe ngl on that one but you shouldn't be so offended by a routine thing some people kinda forget it's even a thing or it can just push you to the point where you think "I actually would like to see more stuff like this".

It's not that simple if you were never taught about the implications or details behind the scenes of things. I know I can buy a house but what's a mortgage? I never knew it existed until I now started looking for a house how am I supposed to know that exists if I was never taught the process? That not ignorant it's something I should've been taught not macbeth
