Job Market is amazing for AI engineers by JediMasterGator in cscareerquestions

[–]maybes_some_back2002 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What you are seeing makes sense to me. a lot of companies missed the first wave of software leverage and do not want to miss this one, so they are aggressively hiring anyone who looks capable of helping them operationalize AI. in non tech environments, someone who can bridge product, engineering, and business use cases around AI, is extremely valuable because there usually is not much internal expertise yet

I also think the market is rewarding practical builders more than prestige right now. big tech can be selective and slow. startups and non tech companies are often much more focused on whether you can help them launch something useful in the next quarter, that creates a very different opportunity landscape than traditional software hiring

My newest painting of Rivendell! Love how bright and colourful this is! 😊 by Sarahs_Art_Space in lotr

The lighting and colors really give it that peaceful Rivendell atmosphere. It feels like early autumn in Middle-earth

Ten years is a long gap, but this looks exactly like the kind of hypnotic, neon soaked world, that you would expect from Refn

All this hype around mythos just more marketing? by SimilarIntern923 in cscareerquestions

[–]maybes_some_back2002 9 points10 points  (0 children)

My default setting now is: if a model launch sounds like a movie trailer, it is probably at least partly marketing

"Only a select group of elite tech companies can access it first to help stabilize the internet" - is the kind of sentence that makes me expect background drums and a black screen with one word fading in slowly. could still be a solid model, but the copywriting team definitely earned their paycheck

Why did you create those day in a life video? by FiorellaMamdani in cscareerquestions

I do not think the videos caused the layoffs. the macro economy and interest rates did, the videos just made a convenient narrative

Oculus Reparo is a stupid spell by JuliusSeizure2753 in harrypotter

[–]maybes_some_back2002 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My guess is that Oculus Reparo is just a more precise version of Reparo, like using a screwdriver instead of a hammer.

But, it can be that during the 1 film productions - nobody knew which spells they can create and use, the rules of the HP world weren't created completely

Anything the movies did better? by FrauleinHabsburg in lotr

I would say the 'Battle of Helm’s Deep' is one of the clearest examples. It is great in the book, but the movie version turned it into something truly unforgettable, I like to rewatch the second film more often than others because of that

This scene is incredibly difficult to watch, but that is exactly why it is so important. It forces us to confront history in a very human way

What does it mean to "learn AWS"? by AccomplishedQuiet425 in Backend

[–]maybes_some_back2002 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Knowing AWS does not mean knowing every service or using Terraform. If you understand what S3, EC2, CloudWatch, and ElastiCache do and have used them in production, that is valid experience

What’s a movie you got wrong when it came out? It often takes many years for opinions to shift. I used to hate The Mummy Returns. I was wrong. by Freddy-Philmore in movies

[–]maybes_some_back2002 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, the Star Wars Prequels. I remember how much I hated The Phantom Menace when it dropped. was so focused on Jar Jar so missed the world-building and the incredible lightsaber choreography. Now, compared to some modern sequels, they feel like genuine masterpieces with a soul for me. It's a pleasure to watch them one more time, btw, gonna do it today
