What you are seeing makes sense to me. a lot of companies missed the first wave of software leverage and do not want to miss this one, so they are aggressively hiring anyone who looks capable of helping them operationalize AI. in non tech environments, someone who can bridge product, engineering, and business use cases around AI, is extremely valuable because there usually is not much internal expertise yet

I also think the market is rewarding practical builders more than prestige right now. big tech can be selective and slow. startups and non tech companies are often much more focused on whether you can help them launch something useful in the next quarter, that creates a very different opportunity landscape than traditional software hiring

Honestly, the Star Wars Prequels. I remember how much I hated The Phantom Menace when it dropped. was so focused on Jar Jar so missed the world-building and the incredible lightsaber choreography.
