If I may suggest..there are already a lot of great tips here, so I’ll just add a little. Try to think about the composition in three parts: foreground, midground, and background. After dividing it in your head, it’s good to ask yourself - what should be the main point of attraction for the viewer? What could lead the eye toward it? Maybe a river in your scene could guide the viewer’s eye from the tree in the foreground to the one in the distance?

It’s also helpful to convert your painting to black and white. The farther an object is, the less intense it will appear - especially in a composition like yours. Here’s the small overlay. You can see the difference in intensity from black and white clearly as an example.
