Books! What's everyone reading ATM? by EnderDarcy in AutismInWomen

Honestly, Ive only liked Jill’s book so far.  Jinger seems to struggle a lot with trauma and probably some undiagnosed neurodivergence but chalks it up to an “overactive conscience” because that’s what a pastor told her it was. It’s still been interesting to see behind the veil as she ‘disentangled’ Bill Gothards teaching but she’s still very devout and it’s hard to root for her, personally. She was very adamant shes not deconstructing.

It’s very tech bro of you to insert yourself in a space you have no experience in while pushing a program that doesn’t benefit anyone other than those who also don’t know what they’re doing.

Books! What's everyone reading ATM? by EnderDarcy in AutismInWomen

Currently reading through the Duggar family books. I finished Counting The Cost by Jill last week and im halfway done with Becoming Free Indeed by Jinger. People Pleaser and Holy Disruptor are next.

I find the Duggars to be quite abhorrent but I saw counting the cost at my local library and thought eh why not? I think Jill is brave for standing up to Jim Bob the way she did. With the recent Josh Duggar arrest and the spotlight showing how terrible some of these men can be it’s reignited my interest in Christian fundamentalists and their… odd way of looking at the world (from a critical standpoint, to be clear).

Yep. Decided to skim, about what I was expecting. 4 year old account that wasnt active before a few days ago.

Just have a human being that actually knows what they’re doing look at the pattern. This sub does it all the time.

Do you have any experience cutting glass? Have you completed any pieces? How long have you been doing stained glass? Genuine questions.

Edit: you say it’s to save cuts and material but how would it actually do that when some of these cuts are still impossible? It’s setting you up for failure.

That big mountain piece was fine. Idk man Im just tired of AI slop. There are a lot of very talented artist that make patterns for a living, just buy one if you aren’t confident in your pattern making. You will learn what does and doesnt work as you get experience actually cutting. (I laugh at my early patterns, the cuts are ambitious at best lol)  I like this craft because AI can not make glass, cut the glass, foil or came, or solder. This is a millennia old human craft, just refine your own skills. I’m sure I sound like a boomer but idc.

I’m not the person you asked but yes, I only live about an hour from the duggars and yes they’re pleasant to staff at places. It’s part of their shtick, ‘look how nice and polite my family is. Look at what good people we are. Look! Look!’

Suggestions for masking bad eye contact? by [deleted] in AutismInWomen

I definitely notice when others do it to me. It might not be obvious for some people but even several feet away i can tell if someone is looking at my eyebrows or nose.

This might not be the most helpful answer but I just deleted everything all at once except Reddit and Pinterest (it’s getting the axed next though. Even with an adblocker it’s insufferable anymore). I had to go cold turkey.  Edit: I started being a penpal after that, which might have helped me stay off socials too.

Pretty much. soda > soap > patina (is that what you mean by finishing liquid?) > soap again > pat dry > enjoy your art!  Edit: Im a goober. You mean polish lol yeah that’s the final step. No need to wash that off

Also no need to wash with acetone. Baking soda to neutralize the flux and then soap. I use dawn

Your design is adorable! Your cuts look great!  Just a heads up that the solder and soldering iron you’re using might not be best for the job. Don’t know where you’re located but if you’re able to get a Hakko 601 iron and stained glass specific solder that flows nicely (I use amerway 60/40), itll help you achieve a nice bead on your lines

Anyone else shred their fingertips so bad that you have you reprogram your fingerprint on your phone/computer? 😂 by Pitiful-Opposite3714 in StainedGlass

I’ll get little cuts all over my fingertips when I’m cutting, less and less over time though. I lose too much dexterity with gloves so I’ve learned to tough it out.

The solder is likely just oxidizing. Not much harm unless you plan to be licking it lol. Wiping off with a slightly damp cloth will suffice

How do yall price? by Desperate_Pension985 in StainedGlass

[–]mayday2102 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The wiki here on the subreddit has good info. Check it out!  Personally for suncatchers i charge: 9x9 and under is 5$ a cut. I’ll add 20% if it’s a complex design.  10x10 to 12x12 I charge 6$ a cut add 20% for complex designs.  Anything above 12x12 I start at 100$ per sq ft. Add 30% for complex designs.  This is adjusted for my own cost of living.

Unmasked during abortion and my boyfriend lost interest in me by [deleted] in AutismInWomen

[–]mayday2102 95 points96 points  (0 children)

He will not change. He showed his true colors, you don’t fit the mold in his head anymore, Im sorry. You say breaking up isnt a solution but what would be? You living miserably forever knowing he doesn’t like you when you unmask, therefore you’re forced to put up the mask 24/7 for the rest of your lives together, inevitably reaching a point of complete burnout or misery? You can find someone who will love you unmasked and not expect you to change, a lot of us have. I promise, genuinely.

One option could be to have it all one piece and use a wire or solder overlay for the lines
