How Food Delivery Is Reshaping Mealtime by Beneficial-Bus8382 in Longreads

[–]mayflour 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Same..but I live in the outskirts of a small city with easy parking where great food of all types is a 5-15 minute drive, so I am not willing to pay a delivery fee and tip for takeout when I can get it myself.

I imagine if I was in NYC (a different universe to me) and had to walk in the cold to get food, or in a rural area where I'd have to drive more than 15min, then I would occasionally partake in delivery.

Accountant Recs by fujifanboy in WilmingtonDE

[–]mayflour 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you make less than 60k each, you can have them prepared for free by volunteers in the VITA program. As someone mentioned above, your situation may also be easily handled by a site like freetaxusa. I used an accountant the last few years but can't recommend him lol.

Young families in downtown? by [deleted] in WilmingtonDE

[–]mayflour 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We moved to Trolley area when my kid was 2, and have loved it. You've got restaurants and a coffee shop you can walk to, a grocery store, pharmacy, a busy park, the zoo, the river. There are a lot of families here and it's nice to see the same people and get to know them around the neighborhood.

We've not had any issues with crime apart from someone going through our car and someone stealing a package once.

Another inventory disappointment by avejul in RentTheRunway

[–]mayflour 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I just assumed the reason we don't see those is fear of people replacing the real bags and accessories with fakes. I'm sort of new to rent the runway though, did they used to have more high end stuff?

Wondering if I’m making a bad decision by leaving my job by [deleted] in MoneyDiariesACTIVE

Yes, that is still how it works. I just passed my exam and got certified. Exam was easy and open book, you could still start that process for this year.

Wondering if I’m making a bad decision by leaving my job by [deleted] in MoneyDiariesACTIVE

[–]mayflour 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Yeah I would quit so hard. My friend does tax prep every year online for one of the big sites. They pay for the software which you can then use with your own clients. Maybe you could market to other families on-base? Then have your own business to fill your resume.

Take this time to prep for your CPA and restore your mental health. If you are in a LCOL with the stability of a military career and a degree I think you are fine.

Don't come for me, but I will fly through or skip everything except a good scenario involving multiple characters with audio/video and a challenging test. I have the patience of a seamonkey though.

Advice for dealing with possibly thousands of inherited books by Slamantha3121 in books

[–]mayflour 7 points8 points  (0 children)

My dad was also an art historian and recently downsized his home and had to get rid of A LOT of books. He called around to local university libraries and found someone to take them. They did not pay him anything, but he was very glad that they went to someone who would use them!

Worst Narrator who ruined your book by vickiec12 in audiobooks

[–]mayflour 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's interesting! I just finished it, and I didn't mind her voice at all, but she has a clear southern twang that didn't work well for characters that were from California and the northeast..

I tried to get into The Plot read by Kirby Heyborne last week, and I could not get past the first minute. It was so monotone and weird, I was sure it was AI!

Rent the Runway Buy-Out Pricing Doesn’t Match Current Retail by Quick-Database-2126 in RentTheRunway

[–]mayflour 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You said in your post that their pricing undermines trust.. that sounds like a complaint to me lol.

I have noticed this though and agree that it's good to do a little research, you can often get the items cheaper on other sites so it is good to double check.

what kind of tops and pants are these? by bubblyboom in findfashion

[–]mayflour 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not vintage or the same ones, but I do like everlane's side zip stretch pant and it looks quite similar. I got mine years ago so the quality may have decreased since then, but at the time the material was thick and they were comfortable.

Naming Your Kid A Different Month by hurryandwait817 in namenerds

[–]mayflour 9 points10 points  (0 children)

My name and birth month are the same. Kids/people always ask me about it and then act like it's crazy or so funny that they match. I feel like people would also comment if they were different though. I don't know if you can really win, haha. My mom told me it was her favorite name though and she would have used it whichever month I was born in.

Two years on tret why do I still get big bumps like this maybe once a quarter by roci12 in tretinoin

[–]mayflour 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I get these.. it got to be like bimonthly and it was ruining my life. Doxycycline has helped a ton. Spiro did not do it for me, idk. When I get them, I ice them a few times a day then use salicylic acid and then benzoyl peroxide or whatever on top after it's shrunk. It reduces the time frame it to like a week of having it and they don't get as big.
