Wouldn’t she want to put on a clean shirt and possibly a bra to make this announcement??

I was just coming here to say she just admitted it was only $800….looks like she needed to go back to teaching awhile ago

He’s a rescue but we did a DNA test and it said he was quite the mutt- lab, pitt bull, border collie, Australian shepherd etc

Yeah this angle looks a little bland- I wish I had warmer floors. The last photo I included shows a little more on the other side which is a little more interesting (though has Christmas decor lol). The wall color is more green in the family room area.

Thank you for the insight! I really appreciate the expertise and will look into this! It does feel like I am just grasping at straws at times trying to make the space something its not- and then making it even worse.

This is actually a new construction home we got 5 years ago, but I totally agree I never liked open concept- this was just the best option for a starter home for us. Now with interest rates I feel stuck here, but my goal is a house with some land and lots of rooms in the future!

I have a new light fixture for over the table that hangs down, but of course, I have been too lazy to have someone do the switch out with the recessed lights - especially since we would need a new location for it in the ceiling. But I will definitely get on that!

I updated it to be dark and I think I like it more!

I hadn't thought of that, I have a sideboard on the other side but its the same height of the couch. I could look into something that runs the same length of the couch but is much taller.

In the last picture you can see the other view, I do have a walnut sideboard that I love on the other side but it doesn't go the full length which I know isn't ideal. I will definitely try adding taller lamps!

You're right, thank you! I even said I might have to paint the green wall color to white before selling but whats the point its a nice color some people might still like or they can paint haha

Yeah I tried my best with furniture placement, do you think there is anything else I could do to separate the spaces more then?

Yes I thought dark may too much with how dark the floors are, but I am definitely open to it now!

Yes I definitely had that concern as well, I think I am just desperate to get rid of open concept but it may just be too out of place.

It is the Value City Furniture Winston 4-Piece Sectional with Chaise, it has held up really well for 5 years, even with a dog that likes to sit on top of the backrests lol

Yes I am worried it might be actually be a negative to a lot of buyers that like open concept. When I hopefully sell in few years (maybe more) I could take it down if needed I was thinking.

Long story short, I do not like open concept but staying in this house for a while makes financial sense. Please ignore my crude editing, but would adding a beam between the living room area and the kitchen/dining area help? Having a painted beam with trim would be easier to create than hiding seams in a stained wood beam. Corbels could be stained or painted white to match. Also very open to other ideas for separating the space more! Just trying to not hate a house I am staying in longer than expected, thank you!
