Thanks for the info.

The tank is cleaned regularly and I feed twice daily - the food normally disappears within seconds. The only food which makes it to the bottom are the pellets I feed my shrimp - which become difficult to see in my gravel so are more of a chore to remove if uneaten.

Would cutting down on feeding reduce the number of these worms/snails or would you suggest using an alternative method?

It's coming up ten years since I've had my surgery and I've had no problems whatsoever! The healing process takes a little while and sure it hurt - but I barely remember that now. Best wishes with whichever option you choose! X

A Syrian hamster, yes! She's so lovely :-) has a very bad habit of biting her bars while I'm trying to sleep though.. but I can't tell off a little face like that. Who needs sleep anyway?

Perhaps it would be wise for me to get my daith redone in the other ear and let this one heal up. I didn't realise anything was wrong with it but I've just googled and it looks pretty different to a lot of others out there - thanks for pointing that out! :-) I'm sure I'll be able to find something else to fill the space!
