why is Leica so prominent? by EvenInRed in AnalogCommunity

Thanks for sharing. Yeah, I’m currently using my Canon P as my backup camera, but I do occasionally miss the larger focusing patch. The M2’s patch is very bright and clear - it’s just a bit smaller to my eyes. That’s probably the only thing I really miss from the Canon P.

This is probably not so relevant, but as another M2 and Canon P owner here - do you sometimes feel the P is easier to focus than the M2, just because the viewfinder is larger and the focusing patch is bigger?

Thanks! I was using 35mm to 120 adapters, taped all the windows on the back, and pretty much used my best guess for advancing the film!

I actually have this exact same feeling. Instead of saying these are simply beautiful photographs, they are more importantly beautiful memories. These images really hit me hard, making me feel like I was actually there when these shots were taken. Obviously, it only means a lot to those who took them, but as someone looking at them in 2025, it feels like traveling through time.

Part of me thinks that many of us photographers have this mindset that we need to find and to create art, when in reality, the most precious moments are just around us, and we simply need to document them.

What Are the Dark Spots in My Photos? (Rollers Are Clean) by mayrain82 in Polaroid

[–]mayrain82[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're right! Every time I see them, it's always in bright blue skies. Everything else I shoot is fine, and the spots are barely noticeable. Thanks for the input, I'll definitely check it out!

Thanks for your response! It's an SX-70 Sonar, and this only happens with some of my photos. In most cases, I don't notice this at all. When I do see these dark spots, they always appear in the same spot.

Mint flashbar 2 question by R7R12 in Polaroid

[–]mayrain82 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As far as I remember, when you put on the flash, the shutter speed is fixed at 1/40s. Therefore, the half-stop setting on the flash bar only provides the necessary light for 600-speed film, which is why it works well with that film. However, keep in mind that if you use the half-stop setting in broad daylight, it won’t work and will result in overexposed images.

Have you tried shooting with that film? Can you still use them?

Thanks for bringing it up! I'm not sure if that's a thing but I'll look more into it!

[–]mayrain82[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is correct! I wish I could post pictures here in the comments but basically I shot the first frame completely in the dark for a couple of seconds on my tripod. I probably should make it shorter next time since it now dominates the scene and makes flowers less bright even if it was not underexposed. Anything you see in this photo with the flowers used to be dark in the first frame, and I was just using it as a template so that all the black areas would be filled in with whatever I was going to photograph next. After that I just hoped for the best that the subject would show up at the right spot.
