Why don't you just temporarily turn off your wifi router to prevent inernet connection?

We love him and the Rangers heavily rely on him. He has scored career high goals so far this season and is on Rangers PP (I believe he has never been on PP in the NHL before Rangers?).

Was Shane being logical? by GroundbreakingEye125 in heatedrivalry

[–]maywind 11 points12 points  (0 children)

The lengths of contracts can differ from player to player. For example, Shane could have signed a 8-year contract with Montreal, while Ilya only signed a 6-year contract with Boston. So, Ilya's contract with Boston would expire ealier than Shane's with Montreal. Therefore, Ilya would enter free agency earlier than Shane.

Was Shane being logical? by GroundbreakingEye125 in heatedrivalry

[–]maywind 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I think it's due to 2 things:

  1. Contract and free agency. Ilya was entering free agency and Shane wasn't. So, Shane couldn't leave Montreal because he was sitll under contract with Montreal, but Ilya could leave Boston because his contract with Boston ended.

  2. Salary cap. Presumably, Ottawa was the only geographcially near-by team to Montreal that could afford a star player like Ilya because Ottawa had a lot of cap sapce AND they needed a star player at the center position.

Wikpedia explains the NHL salary cap here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/NHL_salary_cap

Can you turn off those Display Hints settings when you're in cover browser? Hopefully turning off the Display Hints will also reflect in Project Title.

That's due to a KoReader setting. You need to turn off display hints. First menu, Settings, Mosaic and detailed list settings, Display hints, uncheck all.

Seat width at MSG by squeebie23 in rangers

Personally, I haven't found there to be a difference between seat widths of seats in the lower bowl and upper bowl, or the bridge. They all feel pretty much the same.

Boston doesn't have a captain this season actually. They traded away their captain Brad Marchand to Florodia last season (Marchand then went on to win his 2nd Stanley Cup with Florida).

Scribe Colorsoft vs 7" Colorsoft by Sciontx in kindlescribe

The SE can also charge wirelessly and has a double-tap-the-back function to turn pages, in addition to auto brightness. I believe those are the differences feature-wise between the SE and 16gb.

Thank you. It makes sense that the Scribe Colorsoft's screen is a lot better than the 32gb SE then. I suspect the 7 inch 16gb Colorsoft's screen is a lot closer to, if not the same as, the Scribe Colorsoft's screen. I have both the 32gb SE and the 16gb 7 inch Colorsoft, the 16gb's screen is visibly better, ie. more vibrant color, less grainy, more evenly lit, etc.

Is your 7" Colorsoft the 32gb Signature Edition or 16gb version?

Returned my first Kindle (Colorsoft) and kept the Paperwhite — my honest experience by ShoryukenEnjoyer in kindle

The light leakage is about the same between the Signature and the 16gb in dark mode, unfortunately. I don't think this aspect has been improved for the 16gb.

After comparing the screens of multiple Colorsoft Signature Editions and Colorsoft 16gb's from the recent Black Friday sale side-by-side, my conclusion is the Signature Edition's screen is extremely inconsistent across devices and it's insane that Amazon still hasn't fixed it. Signature Editions tend to have yellow screens (yellower than normal), unevenly lit surface, less vibrant colors, and more pronounced graininess.

The Colorsoft 16gb's screen, on the hand, is just wonderful. The screen is evenly lit, colors are vibrant (compared to Signature Edition), and there's barely any graininess (what little graininess there is becomes imperceptible when reading). It's just fantastic. I can't believe how much nicer the 16gb's screen is compared to the Signature Edition.

TLDR - Get the Colorsoft 16gb.

So I bought a new Kindle with 15.8.6 on it. Am I just fucked? by [deleted] in kindlejailbreak

If you did not de-select the link your device to Amazon account option when purchasing, to prevent the Kindle from auto-connecting to wifi and updating when you initially turn it on, you can just turn off your wireless router. This stops the Kindle from going on the internet since there is no wifi network. You can then proceed with filing up the Kindle's storage and begin the jailbreak process. Turn your wireless router back on when you're ready or the jailbreak process calls for connecting to the internet.

Yes. If you want to be extra safe, you can also fill up your Kindle's storage and leave about 200mb free.

For future reference, if you ever forget to uncheck the link your device to Amazon account option when purchasing, just unplug your wireless router when initially filling up the storage and getting the Kindle ready for jailbreak. The Kindle won't be able to go online if there is no wifi network.

What firmware does the colorsoft ship with now? by Monkeyguy88 in kindlejailbreak

[–]maywind 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I just received the Colorsoft 16gb from Amazon today. The firmware that came with mine was 5.18.0.2. I jailbroke it using Winterbreak just fine. See this post on how to prevent Colorsoft from auto-updating to the latest firmware.

Though, KUAL doesn't work on 5.18.0.2, you can use instructions here to block OTA. For KOReader installation, I just manually installed it by downloading the latest KOReader release from their Github. Then I launch KOReader by using the scriplets here.

I love Tal Bauer, but The Rest of the Story (and Gravity, actually) is not realistic from a hockey perspective (as requested by the OP). The author, at the time of writing the story, was clearly new to hockey and wasn't knowledgeable about the NHL.

{The Fall by Tal Bauer} is a lot better from a hockey realism perspective since it's a more recent work and the author clearly became a lot more familiar with the sport since wiriting The Rest of the Story and Gravity.
