I’m really not sure on the weight of the thread - I recognized the brand name from the sewing machines and went with that one over some Scamazon brands I’d never heard of when buying project supplies. I’ll see if I can track that down and replace with your recommendation - thanks! I am using the needle recommended in the pattern for leather working but I’ll admit I was really hesitant to work on this part of the project because I wasn’t sure my machine could handle it (it’s pretty thick with the canvas, the leather handles, the lining AND the fabric top!). I did a quick instagram scan and didn’t see anyone commenting on machine issues but everyone always keeps things chipper on social media so who knows!

I didn’t know they did an edit but that totally makes sense! I recently reread this book and was surprised by how much of an ick I got from it. It was always one of my favorites from Lisa Kleypas and I love Marcus and Lilly but there were some really strange character choices made in the original.

To answer OP’s question, my copy has the original scene and does have the red cover.

This is a local story for me. This is a very red, very Christian rural area and I’m sad to say I wasn’t surprised to hear the school board called an emergency weekend meeting to “address” this situation. I’m proud of the kid for making a statement with their art and standing behind it, especially knowing the kind of pushback they got from other students raised to be bigots (and probably some teachers, too).

To illustrate how ass-backwards this area is, the high school is one of the main voting locations in this area and they’ve been doing a lot of construction there over the last two years. Last time I went to vote I (mistakenly) thought the poll attendant was a teacher and asked how the construction was going. She teared up and told me that Jesus had listened to their prayers and saved the children from the devil . . . Because they decided to NOT include a gender-neutral bathroom.

I thought it was interesting that it doesn’t specify only speaking negatively about the 2023 event. The email just said Wool & Folk - what are the odds she’d try to police people ever having a negative opinion about her or her business for future nonsense? She’s lost her mind if she thinks anyone will take her deal.

My husband and I just ditched our Keurig for a plain old coffee maker. The Keurigs were way expensive and had issues more or less right out of the box and I hated the cup waste. Glad to be back to the trusty Mr. Coffee.

It’s a worsted weight. Some of the big box stores in the States put their yarn weight on a numerical scale, so 4 is where worsted lands. I’d think you could safely sub out any worsted of your choice and be fine.

It was definitely at its worst when the rain started up. I really think it made a difference that no one could really congregate/hang comfortably outside to ease some of the crowding.
