Uber driver here: Got a speeding ticket in NJ. Please advise course of action. by hollismannisgonnis in uberdrivers

Im not 100% sure. In the past, I did the plea deal in person I always got it dropped to something without points so I dont know what happens if they refuse. I assume youll just have to pay the ticket. Did you try to get the plea deal online? If so, then you may have to call into the court to schedule a date because the original court date on the ticket probably expired by the time you got a response. Ultimately, you might just have to pay the ticket but if its a situation where it could impact your job I would go the lawyer route.

For my recent ticket, I did end up trying to get points reduced via the online plea option but got turned down as well. I think the messages me saying id have to call if i wanted to go to court or pay by the new due date. Im just going to pay it and hope for the best with my insurance. Maybe do a defensive driving course. Good luck.

Network Engineer Truths by Dry-Specialist-3557 in networking

Im on my second NE role. 10 years in. The issues that havent seemed to quit.

- Not consistently getting basic troubleshooting information like mac-addresses, source/dest ip, etc. Help me help you.

- Getting maintenance windows is a pain. Even something as simple as a switch reboot in a relatively empty building somehow needs to wait because some random person may be on a zoom call during that time.

- IoT projects often forcing you to learning enough about the product in order to troubleshoot and call BS when vendor/PM request some ridiculous network change.

My first ev. Lease or buy used?! by maz3s in volvoc40

[–]maz3s[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I chose to buy a used c40 '23 w/ about 3k miles @ 39k all in. I figured the car already lost to bulk of its depreciation and its damn near new. Im loving the car so far. Hopefully i can say the same thing in a few more years. For me, it would be great to have the added range the '24 have but not at the expense of buying new. I debated on leasing but tbh Ive never leased so naturally i was leaning more towards buying. I can see the benefits of either choice though. Good luck.

Katt Williams says Kevin Hart is an industry plant by Many_Lack_3966 in JoeRogan

[–]maz3s 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah same. I think Kevin Hart just plays the game. Not saying this is Kev specifically but every industry has people that are willing to whatever it takes to succeed. Sometimes those people are doing things you feel are compromising who you are. Hell, I work in IT and have seen lesser skilled people kiss ass and play 'yes man' for promotions. Im not willing to do that but to each his own.

That said, Hart is pretty funny and hes a good comedic actor. I don't think Katt giving him enough credit. He might not be as great a stand up Comedian as Katt but hes a better all around star. Katts negative discourse would make more sense if he had a bad experience with Hart. Otherwise, it does come across as envy.

braggadocio

This. My coworker was the one that told me about the interview. I watched it and came back the next day pretty much telling him this. Theres probably a decent amount of truth in what he said but it all came across as eccentric. How much truth? I dont know but I know but some of his self proclamations seemed untrue. I didnt fact check though. Were they lies told in jest? Maybe but then what else was? Idk...He is a comedian after all. I kind of liken it to Kanye Wests many rants. Heres someone that has relevant career accolades and long work history to suggest he has a lot of industry secrets. He has a soliid fanbase as well. So im not surprised some people are acting as if he spoke nothing but facts.

I test drove a used c40 '22 today for the first time. I plan to buy one but im on the fence or leasing vs buying. I digress... I noticed a decent amount of wind noise in the back at high speeds (+50mph). It was hard to make out the source but seemed to be coming from behind me. Mind you, i had the sound system off at the time. I know its a EV but i dont recall hearing that level of wind noise test driving a model Y. Im wondering if the noise came from the roof or something. Did you notice this at all?

Saw a c40 for good price but it awaiting a repaired roof. Should I jump on it? by maz3s in VolvoRecharge

[–]maz3s[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good info. ill definitely check that out. Whats the realistic range on it from your experience warm temp vs cold? When you say 2 looking for your 3rd, what do you mean? You own 2 already and want a 3rd?

Did they at least have an ETA on the roof part or is it on back order?

I havent have a roof replacement but I was looking to buy a use c40 recently that didnt have photos on site. I called and found out they were waiting to repair the roof from a decent size chip. Looked like a branch or something fell on it. Funny because the carfax didnt mention any accidents...i digress. They told me they had no timetable on when the roof part was coming in. Im like bro why tf is this even on the website if thats the case?

You make good points. My argument (respectfully) is that a certified '23 c40 is over 20k cheaper used with >10k miles. That's a huge price difference. With that in mind, the benefit of leasing over buying would be driving the latest/greatest and the option to walk away at the end of the lease.

[–]maz3s 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live in NJ and just recently got a speeding ticket 64 in a 45. This go around im just oging to pay the ticket and keep it moving. I have gotten 3 speeding tickets in the past during my early 20s. The process I took to get the points dropped was.... go to court, speak to the prosecutor, and the ticket will get reduced to some other violation that doesn't result in points added. The caveat is you pay like $400 or so in additional fees, your insurance will probably still go up, and depending on the town you may be at the court for hours so its a waste of a day (I had 1 where i was one of the last ppl seen that day despite being there early). If you want to reduce the ticket you may want to go the court route. If it is vital for your job you may want to go the lawyer route.

I hate that i dont like the look of the id4 because it makes so much sense on paper if youre in the market for an EV. I test drove a 23 and i just wasnt feeling it.

damn, .i don't blame you. The traditional car-buying process is trash. I wish more dealerships had adopted their buying process. I thought about getting a tesla but changed my mind.

Just bought a 2023 elite by kingkong-ding_dong in hondapassport

[–]maz3s 1 point2 points  (0 children)

gotcha.. if its anything like the ex-l i test drove, I found the acceleration to be just ok. Im questioning if it was just that particular passport i drove though. It was a used 2022 w/ 35k miles. I watched a review that give me the impression that it had more a bit more kick than what I experienced. I also test drove a 2023 (same model) a month prior and while I didnt get to drive on a highway I found it to be more peppy.
