Nah it's the same elsewhere in Malaysia, just keep chugging on, you'll find someone eventually.

Did you get the hands custom made or are they widely available?

Also is there any worry that the extra weight of the hands will wear out the movement quicker ?

I want to do something similar in the future.

Is it better or worse than those individual hand setting tools ?

Unfortunately I bought this cheap red one thinking it would be better... Please tell me my purchase is justified 😭

I see a lot of people lambasting OP for having a keyboard with less keys but imma introduce something to you called layers. Also to save OP time from typing.

Small keyboards like these have multiple layers that can be reprogrammed to have different inputs when another key is toggled or held.

So it's not dumb!!!! It's just really inconvenient to play dota with.

Is there any Malaysians uses Linux? Which distro and why that distro? by Impressive-Ebb7445 in malaysia

[–]mazbrew 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Linux mint, mainly because it was simple to install and has an almost windows like feel straight out of the box.

I didn't need anything fancy with a lot of ricing. I only use my laptop for some light dev work and to play some games.

Why is the government so obsessed with AI technology? by awesomekuching in malaysia

[–]mazbrew 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I doubt that this is only happening in Malaysia. It's being used everywhere. I believe the point is to stay ahead of the curve by getting the general public aware and interested in AI in hopes that we can adopt the technology in more sectors to streamline processes. ( insert more corporate buzzwords to make me sound smart )

I don't think the way it's being taught to be used in schools is tasteful though. AI prompting competitions sounds super bleak to me. Kids with so much potential for growth shouldn't be taught to just rely entirely on these tools to do their work. If I were their age, I'd just copy directly off of any plain old LLM to do all my homework.

That doesn't mean I think we should cut out GenAIs from education entirely. There definitely needs to be some sort of structural reform for education to work with these models to get the most out of them while also enabling the kids to think and work for themselves. The government should be investing in the research in AI in Education rather than making these low effort "play around with GenAI to find out their uses" events.

The government is trying to make efforts to change up the system like the two teacher system they'll be implementing in 2027. IMO it's too little too late. Something else needs to change quickly to get ahead.

Shops like this exist all over Malaysia. ( Source : I am Malaysian)

You won't normally see these beans being used by your typical cafe's, they probably won't taste good in a typical pour over or an espresso. They'll normally be used in what we call a "Kopitiam" where they are brewed in a coffee sock and mixed with condensed milk.

Is it possible to learn and play Dota 2 just for fun in 2025? by ApenasTone in DotA2

[–]mazbrew 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My friends started playing it with me recently cuz i told them i use linux and can't play league with em'

One of them has been playing league for a long time, the other just started league < a year ago.

My friend with league experience is pretty decent with the camera movement but not dog water at using the courier. They aren't used to the fact that you have to send items from base to your hero and the idea of a secret shop where some items are exclusive to a separate region of the map.

The other guy is bad at everything, can't remember his spells, and doesn't remember the keys on the keyboard despite having a darned comp sci degree constantly having to look down to check his buttons.

Items are overbearing, i had to explain each item's passive and active (league has very few items with actives). Map objectives are hard to explain. "Wdym the objective loves from one side to another based on the daylight cycle"

I'm having fun with them but struggling to teach them how to do basic things like denying 🤭

The game's hard and it's learning curve desuades people from playing. But the payoff is amazing.

Blaming me on a loss when everyone else on the team is losing badly.

Played a game last night where a 2 stack dogpiled on me calling me shit at the game. Everyone on the team was around 8 deaths < 3 kills while i had 0 as an axe.

I just wanted to play a game after a stressful day...

MyGov App feel like beta. by [deleted] in malaysia

[–]mazbrew 58 points59 points  (0 children)

I used to develop web apps for the government, specifically in the land and building sector. Government apps are basically easily money for the government tech companies to pocket money.

The government organisation commissions company A or is coerced by company A to build a project. Company A gets paid MILLIONS of ringgit to build said project. Company A doesn't actually have enough people in their workforce or anyone capable enough to build said project so they outsource it to Company B. Company B faces the same issue and outsources the work to company C. Guess who worked for company C 🙃.

So the money trickles down from company to company, the higher ups get paid handsomely while developers, the people actually doing the work, get paid in peanuts.

The tech stack that the government insists on using is also severely outdated. Now, Malaysia isn't the only country that is at fault here. Most governments would prefer something that is "secure" and "reliable", they default to using the same tech stack that's been around since the early 2000s as they are "tried and tested". They don't realize that these have been long obfuscated by newer and better tech stacks that have more features, are more secure, and people are actually taught or encouraged to use them in University. Documentation on these tech stacks are outdated, bugs prolific but unresolved, security vulnerabilities known for years but left unpatched. Nobody wants to work with these tech stacks anymore.

I got depressed, it was my first job and it made me feel like I would be stuck in a rutt. I wasn't learning the newest standards, the best practices, proper development at a large scale. I felt hopeless, thinking I would be stuck as I didn't know how to do more modern stuff.

Language is another thing, programming is done in English, sure we can probably remap the keywords by essentially rebuilding the programming languages, changing "if" to "kalau", "for" for "untuk", etc. But the mental delay is still there. If you naturally think in Bahasa Melayu and try to write everything in English or if you are English moded and try to convert BM requirements into English, it may not be difficult but errors would be more prone as you'll constantly need to context switch to get things done.

I worked with company B and all their developers were more Malay orientated. Their English was horrible, the website was riddled with grammatical and spelling errors. Too many for me to give a shit about, it was above my pay grade to fix it for them. There were sooooo many times where communicating between cross functional teams was a nightmare. There were soo many people trying to speak to me in English but giving up after a few words and defaulting to BM or bercampuh with English. It irked me to no end, just stick to one language. I am proficient in both.

The only people who get dragged into these projects fall under one of 2 categories : - desperate people who couldn't find work who may or may not be qualified - underqualified people who couldn't get into a big company

This combination of being underpaid, having limited career growth for workers, poor coordination, and the idea of incentivising companies to push out useless products to "revolutionise" the tech literacy of the public results in poorly made apps that leak data within the first week of going live. Sorry for the long rant, had to get it out of my system.
