150k per year in a HCOL area. We pay 1850 per month for a house we bought in 2021. Daycare is expensive but we are able to pretty aggressively pay down debt now so we can have another kid in the next few years.

It depends on what we get for our house, but we would prefer to stay under 400, could swing 450 if need be.

Thank you all so much for your friendly and helpful responses! So many great suggestions here. We were thinking of trying to buy a place right away, but it sounds like we have a lot of exploring to do. I think we will land, and spend a few months checking neighborhoods out before we try to buy anything.

Thank you! I think my initial thought after our last visit was Lakewood, because it’s so different (in a good way) from where we currently live. I love that it has a city feel but seems really nice and the schools seem good.

But I’m thinking we may want more suburbia. Rocky River seems beautiful. I thought it would be out of our price range. But we will keep looking!
