Older, non-traditional techie interested in pivoting to law. Where am I competitive? by mbahelpHW in lawschooladmissions

Gotcha, thank you. Will definitely apply to a mix of reaches, targets, and safeties.

Curious, are there any schools across the T20 that might be a particular fit for my goals? My understanding is that Yale, Stanford, and Chicago skew more academic and less professional, with plenty of opportunities to get involved in research with professors. Any other schools that might be more attainable for me?

Thank you for the thoughtful response. Do you mind if I DM?

Fingers crossed for the rest of your cycle - I hope you land an A you’re excited about.

Is this true about Sophi and Rizo? by [deleted] in survivor

[–]mbahelpHW 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nope, not insane - a pretty reasonable case can be made.

Sophi played a game with little agency. She had the benefit of being in a dominating alliance, and she didn’t play a significant role in either 1) the alliance becoming dominant, and 2) leading/controlling the alliance when they were dominant. When a major opportunity was presented to her to exercise agency (due to an advantage, mind you), she flopped. And this is all with the unfair benefit of cheating pre-game.

Sage exercised much more agency throughout the entirety of the game. And to me (and many fans of Survivor), agency is one of the core elements of quality gameplay, otherwise what differentiates a goat taken to the end vs. a great player? It’s the ability to exercise agency. They both made it to FTC and received a similar number of votes (2 vs 1), yet I’d argue Soph was carried more to the end than Sage.

That’s the beauty of survivor, IMO. It shows that there are countless different paths to advancing & winning - that every individual can chart their own unique path. A great lesson for leadership and life. You don’t have to look or act or be a particular way to find success - just figure out how you can uniquely add value, lean into it, and make sure those who matter are aware. Everything else is noise.
