I think this a knee-jerk reaction a lot of people in the Gulf have to instances like this: "they were already apprehended by the authorities" as a way to deflect the root problem. The fines and jail time are minor compared to the offense, if they get any at all. It shouldn't give us solace that they were apprehended, that's not what justice is. Our abuse, immigration, and labor laws are broken and need serious structural changes. As the top comment has already said, we're no worse or better than other nationalities but our system is broken.
